Great ruling.

We assume the anti-social media jawboning crowd from a few years back will wake up to applaud it.

Asking questions is now “harassment” — at least in New Jersey.

A school district in the Garden State is suing a journalist over public records requests.

It’s absolutely outrageous that U.S. journalist Ahmed Shihab-Eldin has been jailed in Kuwait for six weeks for reposting publicly available, verifiable information.

The @state-department.bsky.social should leave no stone unturned until he is safely back home.

Congress is voting to renew FISA Section 702 — the dangerous surveillance law that lets the NSA and FBI search Americans’ calls and texts without a warrant.

Watch @trevortimm.bsky.social explain, and TELL THEM: No spying on Americans without a warrant. Period.

Former Tufts student detained over pro-Palestinian op-ed self-deports as part of Trump admin deal Rumeysa Ozturk left the U.S. after completing her Ph.D., her lawyers said.

It is disgusting that the DOJ feels the need to continue insulting Öztürk on her way out, even after their claims about her have been definitively proven false.

These are awful people.

VPN surveillance: Time for transparency and limits on spy powers A recent letter from our lawmakers raises the question: What does the intelligence community do with the data of VPN users in the United States?

Congress is currently debating whether to reauthorize Section 702 of FISA.

Any bill to renew the law must close the backdoor search loophole by requiring the gov't to get a warrant before it can search the comms of Americans.

It must also close the data broker loophole.

Even by Trump's standards, his recent attacks on the press are increasingly unhinged — threatening journalists with jail time and outlets with investigations for reporting on his disastrous war in Iran.

Israel killed three journalists in one day in Gaza and Lebanon.

This isn’t just a tragedy. It’s a pattern enabled by impunity — and by U.S. political and military backing.

Israel has killed at least 257 journalists in five countries since 2023, according to @pressfreedom.bsky.social.

Post Mortem | Robert G. Kaiser When Jeff Bezos bought The Washington Post in 2013 and promised to find inventive ways to make journalism profitable in the digital age, he seemed like a godsend. He wasn’t.

We used to feel we could compete with the Times, “or best them completely, as we did in the biggest story of the late twentieth century, Watergate,” WaPo’s former managing editor and longtime reporter Robert G. Kaiser writes in @nybooks.com.

With the recent cuts, “Bezos has obliterated any chance.”

Trump's weird rant is factual and legal nonsense. That said, is he implying that CNN is under criminal investigation for its (accurate) reporting? Should Paramount shareholders be worried about acquiring a company that, according to the president, is under investigation?

Journalists don’t work for the governmentt and their right to publish government leaks is protected by the First Amendment which, despite President Trump’s efforts, remains the law of the land.
