To be clear, I think not going all in on AI was the right move, but the execution has been poor. Hope Ternus is a big privacy person!

Ternus is a smart guy who puts smart people in place and I have a feeling he will make some changes to the software org at Apple in time.

IMO, Apple has left a lot of software advantage on the ground in the name of privacy and the fruits of that will work, or won’t.

My hot take is that formulaic suggestions for others to take in specific situations leads to places like Reddit, where everyone is a helpless little baby, unable to do the most basic research or self-awareness.

Trump Administration Takes Steps to Refund $166 Billion in Tariffs

Starting today, companies that paid Trump's illegal tariffs can seek a refund.

You know who won't get any relief? YOU, the consumer, who's paid for them all along.

That's outrageous. Republicans need to join Democrats to stop Trump's stupid tariffs & deliver relief to American families.

Sorry if you'd been hoping to have a special occasion dinner. Maximum revenue extraction means fewer choices.

I can’t say I’ve got any respect whatsoever for the concerns of people who believed Elon’s bullshit and spent $50k on it because driving is just too tough.

We won’t stop laughing at the scorched sidewalls, ruined wheels, broken cars and other results (dead people) of this software.

Fine. Let them sue. We won’t stop laughing at the scorched sidewalls, ruined wheels, broken suspension and other results (dead people) of this asstastic software.

You can imagine how the conversation around Flock is going in Storey county. All our libertarians think it’s good, actually to be tracked and monitored in perpetuity.

I’m pretty sure Reddit exists to give people a place to be crazy and act like little children. Seems like a problem.

You’d have to be stoned to buy this

I’m watching it happen with the people I know at Meta. The smart and competent are experiencing extremely low morale and confusing directives.

To say respect for the CEO exists at all is speculative, yet there exist plenty of yes-people who will drive right into the ditch.

Your writing is a good model of talking with audiences, helping them through concepts and repercussions. Thanks for gifting us with this essay.

I really appreciate your recap - that we don’t know which two digits are at stake here, or when the new millennium begins.

21. Some cultures have produced vital advances; others remain dysfunctional and regressive. All cultures are now equal. Criticism and value judgments are forbidden. Yet this new dogma glosses over the fact that certain cultures and indeed subcultures . . . have produced wonders. Others have proven middling, and worse, regressive and harmful.

22. We must resist the shallow temptation of a vacant and hollow pluralism. We, in America and more broadly the West, have for the past half century resisted defining national cultures in the name of inclusivity. But inclusion into what?

Palantir is part of the "regressive and harmful" subculture that destroyed USAID, terminated mRNA research, trashed NIH & CDC & FDA & EPA, and brought back measles. Within the next few years, their subculture will be responsible for more preventable deaths than any other in human history.

I moved to a very conservative area a few years ago. My first local mail list was a reply about the transgender “scare”.

Mike’ is sadly correct. I don’t participate on that list much anymore. My neighbors (not all) are ghouls who would be happier If it was 1863 plus cell phones and grok.

It really isn’t! I don’t compare my old M5 to a person because it is not a person or anything but a car.

Apologies for being so strident. Of course, the environment I’m in as a product of my own interests and I know there is a very vibrant and technically engaged Tesla community.

They’re just wrong about everything is all. :-)

That’s not how car guys talk about consequential design. Not people with depth, anyway.
