Today's unsolicited advice for indie authors: don't forget to arrange cover reveals (with bloggers or even yourself); it's a nice way of bringing more attention over your books and it's free.

The "starving artist" myth is one promoted by people in power to romanticize the forced austerity of artists and writers -- meaning, to convince creators that being paid less than they are worth is simply part of the expected narrative when it shouldn't be. (See also: the WGA strike.)
