frustrating to have to re-up this again, but this essay has all the necessary facts to counteract today's news: juliaserano.medium.com/trans-people...

Self-harm, but actually itās just reading the comments on the IOC re-introducing genetic tests for womenās categories
Someone tell Shabana Mahmood that the European court of human rights exists LITERALLY to tell governments when they're exploiting human rights, and this is not, in fact, a case to leave the ECHR, but a case for the government to go "oh shit, we fucked up"
As I said she's cartoonishly evil

Iām just wondering what Iāve missed of the latest drama, because very little of what I have seen would surprise me of any other business leaders of companies whose users are not its customers.
(And like, itās entirely plausible Iāve missed some part of this drama that has fuelled those comments, but what Iāve seen is mostly normal capitalist power dynamics ā the people with significant control over the business care little for those they serve.)
re: all the Bluesky drama,
I see a bunch of people claiming āof course thereās no compassion, of course thereās no equality, theyāre all tech peopleāā¦
And like, Iām not saying weāre all good people, but: isnāt this just people with power and capital? Are tech people worse than most C-levels?
Are we sure medical billing arenāt a terrorist cell?
the album art for the upcoming 10 year anniversary edition of Carly Rae Jepsen's EMOTION with expanded tracks
there's a big problem with the culture here on bluesky, and it's that not nearly enough people are posting about the 10 year anniversary of Carly Rae Jepsen's groundbreaking and timeless album EMOTION being this year and how awesome that is
One of the most pernicious cissexual myths is that **trans ppl** are obsessed w gender when the average cis woman would never think of wearing a bow tie and the average cis man gets angry if he has to drink out of a coffee cup w too many dainty flowers glazed on it.
āThereās an old Jewish tale about a rabbi who assigns a person who has spread harmful information around their small village to rip open a pillow and let the feathers out. Then, his punishment is to gather back all the feathers. Itās impossible, he complains. The rabbi says thatās the point.ā
When we talk about systemic victimisation this is what we mean.
To my fellow cishet dudes: when we are quiet about supporting the trans community, the only voices anyone hears are the Charlie Kirks of the world. Don't let accusations of being "performative" or "virtue signaling" shut you up - that's their whole point. Our voices are needed now more than ever.
It Is Journalismās Sacred Duty To Endanger The Lives Of As Many Trans People As Possible

When 100 thousand trans people rallied in London it was only worthy for the "local news" section.
Is there anywhere good to get a corset in the #SFBA, especially as someone with a relatively small waist-to-hip ratio, and as someone who has never bought a corset before?
since Bluesky is chock full of Newsom-stan-bots insisting that "Dems should compromise on trans issues", I will re-up my November essay about why this is not only immoral & unempirical, but BAD POLITICS. Dems WILL LOSE if they do this, here's why (no paywall): juliaserano.medium.com/should-democ...
Just for perspective, a few weeks ago roughly 100,000 turned up for the London Trans+ Pride march. By contrast fewer than 3,000 ACROSS THE WHOLE COUNTRY, have turned up to anti-asylum "protests". Yet we are meant to take the latter as "the voice of the people" and the former as "the minority".
I presume I have a copy of it somewhere, but recreating it wouldnāt be hard!
Though looking at it does make me think of all the half-written blog posts I equally have somewhereā¦
i think what bothers me most about how "terf island" has been used is that it implies there's some unique essential characteristic of the uk that's allowed trans rights to be rolled back so thoroughly. this can and will happen anywhere we let it
One of the first things you learn about trans competent primary care is how many of us routinely develop PVD, UTIs, and kidney stones from avoiding or not having access to bathrooms. As a fun bonus, the disinfo machine then uses this high prevalence to make mendacious claims about HRT.
The sanitizer always worked on parser or treewalker tokens (I think we changed which at some point?), which were I believe always bytes for pure ASCII or unicode for anything else, which doesnāt quite follow with that.
Right, I understand fine *what* it matches, I just am unclear on *why* weāre doing that!
I mean stripping controls isnāt the wildest thing to do, I just want to know if thereās some specific browser behaviour (quite possibly now very historic browser!) that led to this being included.
And to be clear I very much doubt Itch has enough volume to do anything *but* go to a high-risk processor, though they do at least have data on historic chargeback rates which helps any negotiating position wrt rates.
This is⦠intriguing. As far as Iām aware, Stripe is still one of the payment processors used by OnlyFans ā of course, some of this is volume, but also we donāt know how bespoke OnlyFansā contract is (what rates are they paying? are they obliged to do cascading payments?).

The damning thing here, really, is using AI to select which submissions to pay attention to. (And okay, that may well be just rebranding of old ML stuff, but who knows.)
A random sample would be just about defensible. A selected sample is absolutely not.
Alex Parmar-Yee said the EHRCās claim that it would seriously consider the submissions in just a month is āsimply not credible.ā
āThis is an emergency, and we urge people to tell their MP now ā this isnāt how we should make decisions about fundamental rights.ā
