Interesting story, did not make the news here, thanks! Great image also (are these P-8s down there?), must have been quite an experience. Having been to Iceland as a tourist I could hardly imagine flying light aircraft myself there due to the always strong winds during my stay.

Every time one thinks we have reached the bottom he manages to set the bar even lower…this may be his only real talent. Utterly embarrassing again. And 1/3 of Americans still approve it…quo vadis USA? It will take years to repair the damage and regain trust in the world once this regime is gone.

I know what you mean about the difference in culture (I‘m definitely more of an Icelandic spirit it seems), but I doubt this plays much of a role in professional aviation. Anyway I would have loved to be on that flight, not sure if the Germans on board enjoyed it though (flight came from FRA) 😅.

How was that even possible. Ignoring company is one thing, ignoring ATC a whole different matter…can’t imagine them giving clearance for such low altitude without having that planned in advance. Also, assuming the F/O was not about to retire, how in the world did he/she support that idea. Crazy!

Danke, hab ich vermutet aber die genauen landschaftlichen Gegebenheiten in Kuwait waren/sind mit nicht bekannt. Immer mehr Meldungen kommen rein, es scheint wohl zu stimmen.

Könnten evtl. auch Fotos vom friendly Fire Abschuss von Anfang März in Kuwait sein? Zumindest eine der 3 F-15 war auch aus LN.

Yeah I know that the whole gov. is fucked up and I am the last one not to believe they faked the results. My point is that believing to know something is worthless if there is no proof and prosecution…and that has to happen now, in a few years time no one will pay attention to what happened in 2024.

If the audio below is real time they had only split seconds to react once ordered to stop. And yes, as always with aviation accidents, multiple factors leading to catastrophe. Just wanted to emphasise vehicles don’t drive around airports based solely on visual reference.

That’s not how it works. All vehicles just like planes need permission by air traffic control (ATC) for every movement on airside areas like runways. What exactly happened will be investigated but there is released audio of ATC clearing the truck to cross AND the plane to land on that very runway.

If that’s the case why does he get away with it. People can believe it or not, as long as there is no investigation and proof with all due consequences it does not make any difference.

Statistically true but at the same time ATC has been understaffed for years in the US and many systems are in urgent need of an upgrade. Your initial statement sounds like AC is at fault here while even at that early stage evidence is pretty clear they followed the given instructions correctly.

I‘ll correct that for you: „Not a great day for thinking of booking a flight from/to an US airport“.

Hint: the ATC audio reveals Air Canada was cleared to land and the trucks were cleared to cross the runway at the same time.
