'Industrial scale' solar farms attacked by Norfolk's Green The county council's Green leader says solar panels should be locally owned and put on roofs.

I see the Greens are opposing (checks notes) solar power now.

What should have happened: the REIT paid no tax but the Tice companies holding shares in the REIT paid ÂŁ98k tax on the dividends they received.

What actually happened: none of the companies paid any tax.

Why did I check the quote tweets on this? I knew they were going to depress me, just wall to wall people who are going to be poorer than they should be in old age who think that “invest more in stocks and shares ISAs” is some kind of spiv’s charter and not, you know, important advice.

It's the classic Mel Gibson and Jesus meme where Mel is on set in normal clothes casually chatting to a very bloody Jesus (for those of you who don't know it).

I have seen a lot of NIMBY selfishness in my time, but "my convenience matters more than cancer care" is a new low. Quite seriously tempted to email them and tell them as much.

The future arrived this week. And boy are we not ready for it!

Anthropic's Mythos hasn't brought a catastrophe—yet. That makes it the closest thing we've had to a "near miss" that could wake the world up to the need for international AI governance. My piece in @nonzeronews.bsky.social:

I also love "café con leche" as an attempt to make a coffee sound like unimaginable decadence

Every reference to 'welfare' ever should have 'including pensions' or 'excluding pensions' in parentheses next to the word.

All interviewers/articles should clarify at first use whether the word includes or excludes. Interviews should be stopped if unclear.

Because frankly it's getting tedious.

Hunger levels have increased across Africa over the last decade—

In every region of Africa, hunger is more prevalent than a decade ago.

The chart shows the increase in the share of the population that is undernourished, comparing 2014 and 2024 (the most recent year available).

a gentle reminder that the UK's healthcare spending per capita is at the OECD average, and pensions as % of GDP are well below it

This is why I continue to be very, very, very dubious about the phrase 'Treasury brain' - it is in fact good that one government department goes 'okay but we do spend more than our peers for less'! UK defence procurement is in a terrible terrible state.

Unfortunately for British political parties it appears to be magic beans all the way down

I’m a broken record on this, but the Strategic Defence Review was arguably *the best* opportunity to government had to build political consent for higher broad-based taxes (as voters have enough sense of history to see why a more dangerous world would necessitate it). But alas, they didn’t take it.

This was over the sketch / poem for Epstein's birthday that Trump claim didn't exist.

I'd imagine one issue with the lawsuit is that the sketch definitely exists:

People will be closely studying how Hungary's opposition pulled off their win in such a pro-incumbent system. Important to note that the theme was corruption. Democrats need to get much better at calling out Trump's corruption.

Hungary election live: Viktor Orbán concedes defeat in Hungarian election after 16 years in power Long-serving prime minister beaten by opposition after early results showed clear lead

Orban concedes defeat. The support of Trump, Vance, Putin, Lavrov, Weidel, Milei, Le Pen, Fico, Babis and many others could not overcome Hungarian anger at a stagnant, corrupt regime

Thankyou Hungary. You didn't listen to Vance, Trump, Putin or Netanyahu, which is the first step on the road to decency and sanity. This is an important win for Europe as well.

Whilst I very much don’t want to look at everything globally through the lens of British political culture, I also want to point out that Matthew Goodwin was getting paid a lot of money by the Victor Orban led government and highly likely he won’t be from now on and that’s y’know very funny?

It's certainly idiotic, and it grows from the dishonesty of how Brexit was presented by Leave leaders as a huge change and yet 'there won't be a big changes' & especially that ending Freedom of Movement would affect 'them' not 'us' ('we retired to Europe long before we joined the EEC' etc.).

Hard not to feel a little smug watching Pearkes get pilloried for saying this. Guess what, the left is almost uniquely psychotic on this topic! They’ll absolutely assassinate your reputation for years on end if you dare try to insist on following empirical data on it.

How would Britain vote at the start of 2026? We take a detailed look at voting intention across multiple factors, including a new socio-economic classification

Essentially, if you feel economically secure and you are of working age, you vote Labour, and if you feel economically secure and are retired you vote Tory, and if you are economically insecure and working age you vote Green, and if you are economically insecure and retired to vote Reform:
