Woooooooooo!!!!!🎉💃🏾 Congratulations 🥳
Basically all of Meta’s platforms (certainly FB) are just overrun with this kind of AI slop. While it seems that it’s fairly easy to spot, I’m often alarmed by how many folks are unable to tell. while it seems mostly harmless, I do wonder what longterm exposure to this kind of stuff will do to us.
Chinamaxxing projects onto China an economic model that has not been kind at many points in time to many Chinese people
I feel like i'm going insane because every major account on twitter and bluesky has posted this quote and it's completely fake from what I can tell.
For academics too.
This will happen again and again if the left and right continue to project their ethnocentric geopolitical fantasies on an ignored people who ask for recognition on their own terms.
Can't keep up? Here's HKFP's explainer on the dramatic opening days of the investigation into #HongKong's worst fire in decades: hongkongfp.com/2026/04/12/t... the Tai Po blaze killed 168 people last November.
While I have no desire to re-enter the platform formerly known as Twitter, I’m glad that this thread exists.
yes AI hallucination is a distraction. It's the people's lives that are being dismissed, knowledge & culture being erased, that we should never lose focus on.
Both of them look like their mom had forced them to take a photo with their second cousin three times removed at a family gathering
There has been a lot of criticisms of that this piece had AI-hallucinated citations already. Prashad has apologized--and yet it's very telling that he feels more accountable to academic integrity than the 12 million lives whose erasure he and Chak contribute to the erasure of
Tankies become 2003 George w bush when they talk about Uyghurs
There’s no such thing as “birthright citizenship for illegal aliens.”
The U.S. Constitution is abundantly clear that if you are born in the United States, you are a citizen. Trying to take away citizenship from Americans is not only extreme, but also unconstitutional.
Uyghur scholars and intellectuals that have been imprisoned. shame on you Monthly Review.

It’s worse: AI slop.
Scholars are often unwittingly turned into frontline targets in geopolitical rivalry. It’s abhorrent. While there are real concerns about protecting academic freedom in an era of interference, there’s no justification for this (which btw will only make US-citizen academics less safe elsewhere)
Need a thorough investigation, especially given how many Chinese scholars have been harassed by the feds over the past decade
Proud to be working with KongerCIC for our documentary about the UK’s HKer diaspora. The CIC is doing great work reaching out to HKers who have arrived in the UK since 2020, helping them adapt and teach the next generation about HK culture while also building a bridge to locals. Check out our promo:
Trump’s desperate and bottomless need for self-congratulation and self-valorization make it entirely plausible that he migrate from “Thanks to me, Iran will be annihilated” to “Thanks to me, Iran will have a golden age” in 24 hours, as long as he never has to admit uncertainty or failure in between.
A version of Occam’s Razor for this admin: it’s always the dumbest and most craven explanation.
If it weren’t so frustrating, and the argument they’re pushing wasn’t so disingenuous, this might actually be hilarious.
the timing of the Middle East Critique piece & the Monthly Review piece is a bit peculiar too. Xinjiang is hardly in the headlines these days, why two new apologias all of a sudden published around the same time? thinking it could be 大外宣 needs following the Ethnic Unity law...
We didn't deserve this day.
Excited for the usual suspects to use Trump’s threats of wiping out the Iranian people to claim we should be closer with China——which has threatened death and destruction with thousands of missles pointed at Taiwan for decades—than note say, they are two sides of the same coin
This will keep happening as long as law enforcement uses ‘less lethal’ munitions. Theoretically the advice is don’t aim that stuff at people’s faces, but for some reason projectiles just keeps flying at people’s face anyway, in Chile, HK etc. Weird, right?

The only thing that is immediately clear about the terms of the ceasefire, and the likelihood of it lasting even '2 weeks' is that Trump needs to be removed from office. Now.
