So, people are going to have to pass A level english to live here are they? I hope they study what I did at A level, Translations by Brian Friel, about the colonial evil of the English forcing people to adopt the English language

Write that book.
Paint that picture.
Share that poem.

You never know—someone out there might just really need your art to keep going.

So keep creating. You’ve got something special. ❤️

No book in the history of the world has made a child gay or straight or trans or cis. But they have provided hope and a future for those that already are. But of course, under Reform, all hope must be crushed.

it is really weird that publishing decided that instead of having a marketing budget, writers should just become cult leaders

It’s always weird realising that people will pay more for a blank Moleskine notebook than for a novel.

A little while ago, my parents' cat Bridget went missing. As the weeks dragged on, they became extremely worried. My dad devised a way to distract himself: he began to paint Bridget's adventures, imagining her travelling through time and popping up in some of art and music's most iconic scenes.

I don’t think super high fantasy - no shagging fae or anything, but def a touch of fantasy to the premise…

I have a feeling the new book from Laura Steven is this vibe - it’s called Our Infinite Fates I think.

I already shared this but now tagging Melissa by quoting her! A GREAT episode and even tho I've been published since 2019 I still learned new things about how advances/contracts/royalties worked! I am always so appreciative when people will share advance info! Too much silence in this industry!

Querying writers: just your regular reminder that I had two periods of not being able to get published for years on end and now I've sold half a million copies.

Don't give up.

well. yes. I agree it’s not the AUTHOR’s job to run around trying to get blurbs for marketing and publicity, as this is not their job or skill set. but the publisher? the people in charge of Marketing And Publicity? perhaps this might be mysteriously linked to them somehow?
