School zone speed limit compliance fell from 87% to 62% within one week. Three months later, compliance was at just 41%
High-end speeding went from 0.3% with cameras to 4.5% without cameras. That's drivers going more than 15km/h over the posted limit.

Automated Speed Enforcement (aka photo radar) was a proven deterrent to speeding in school zones. Since the Province took it away, speeding has heavily increased, putting our kids in #CollegeWard and across the city at risk.
Entrance sign to the Glebe car park indicating there are 79 spots available including 6 spots that are accessible.
Midday on a busy Saturday afternoon and there are plenty of off-street parking spots available at the multi story car park in the Glebe.
This was entirely predictable. And now we are mourning the loss of an Ottawa crossing guard who was just trying to keep kids safe. Shame on the Ford government for putting populist politics over people’s lives. ottawacitizen.com/news/ottawa-...
An OC Transpo #6 bus in a bus lane. Inside of the bus there are multiple people, each with a text showing what they're going to be doing. They say "Grabbing a bite to eat", "Going to Lansdowne", "Getting a haircut", "Bought groceries", and "Can finally fit on the bus". The final one was a user in a wheelchair. Beside the bus there is a single person in a truck in the regular travel lane. Pointing to him it says "Just driving through". They have a thought bubble coming out from their head saying "That bus lane is going to ruin local business!".
An amazing member of ours put together this graphic that really encapsulates perfectly the situation on Bank Street.
There is only so much space available, and we must use it as efficiently as possible. Parking isn't that.
Please sign up to delegate on March 30th in favour of bus lanes!
Happy St. Patrick's Day, New York.
The Glebe BIA had a report done about the area.
We think this image perfectly encapsulates the reason for hesitancy by the business owners to get rid of parking.
While 86% of the respondents who come to shop said they get there by means other than driving, 94% of the owners said they drove.
Ottawa has nearly a billion $ allocated for the coming years, all for roads/widenings in rural/suburban wards tk reduce car commutes by seconds or minutes. Meanwhile our transit network is starved for funding. Map credit @sjamieit.bsky.social

I for one will be glad to hear a discussion about this safety issue, even if it’s “only” the location of 20% of collisions with cyclists and 4% of collisions with pedestrians. 🚦

So disrespectful.
Good move by Team USA. #StopDrunkDriving
One of the more disturbing sections of the city's report on right turns on reds : they say that banning right turns on reds will lead to worse safety because drivers will be impatient and kill/injure people due to being inconvenienced.
We can't seriously be hiding behind this right?
I wonder if those particular staff people cycle in the urban core.

Have you ever once seen the New York Times quote Trump like this?
@en.ottawa.ca staff are proposing a new stream for community projects that divert waste.
Great news, right? This answers a call Ecology Ottawa made in a 2024 petition: www.ecologyottawa.ca/waste_reduct...

Beautiful view along the York Stairs (NCC owned and maintained) onto York Street, filled with parking and car space (city owned and maintained). The contrast in design leadership couldn’t be starker.
Two things I’m not sure is widely understood:
1. Many public servants no longer have their own desks and work in transient government co-working spaces
2. Many describe a Kafkaesque existence of going to physical offices only to spend their time on video calls with the people sitting next to them
Wow.
Watch this.

Peter Thiel has been open about this for a long time. Trump is a way to break the republic, which can then be replaced by “free economic zones” with oligarchs as dictators and tech as a taskmaster for helpless humans without any rights. (1/2)
very funny AND very frustrating
The thing is, we need to win more than just the progressive vote. We all love our progressive candidates… but we also need a different approach to engage the whole city. That may not come from an incumbent. At this early stage - more choices are better.
