Love is love, but the gifts put us, the readers, in a deeply uncomfortable position —- here is a dead bird offered as a gift, parallel to the bird that has semi-befriended Wander.
It’s a squeamish dichotomy.

It’s about TIME Blind Alley got a TVTropes page!
I have three goals that I hope to achieve in life:
(1. A TVTropes page
(2. A Wikipedia page
(3. Gary Groth looks at my work and doesn’t hate it.
what made the cows laydown
Love.
Love makes the cows lie down.
Now we know.
I wish I was a gamer. Fell off the bus at age 13 and never got back on. I don’t have the bandwidth for it now. But games like Night in the Woods and Limbo are art. Absolute art that makes me swoon with both happiness and longing.
Man, what a yoho.
It reminds me of Ana Kasparian’s bizarre public meltdown over “birthing persons”. When was she ever going to realistically encounter that term?
The mere thought of Musk’s loathsome, supercilious little smirking face is enough to curdle my gizzard.
I know he’d be happy to read these horrible results, even if he’s too cowardly to openly say so.
I would like to think that if Ford could have had even the faintest idea what pardoning Nixon would eventually lead to, he wouldn’t have done it.
Please tell me you’ve sent this to McCloud.
Whoa, what is this source footage from? The Bugs model they’re using is distinctly Jones circa 1953. I’ve never seen any modern project use that model.
Hi. I don’t come on as often as I should. Partly out of sheer discouragement.
I’m a little unclear as to what the relationship has always been between Telecom and TMS. I‘d been under the impression that Telecom was either a wholly owned subsidiary or even merely an alt-label, à la Touchstone (Disney). But clearly it‘s neither. What’s a good comparison?
But isn’t Bluesky, roughly speaking, Twitter circa 2018?
Not to disagree. My X account is still open but it’s officially in “zero fucks left to give” mode. That place is so miserable.
That’s nice to know. 🙂
Heh. That actually isn’t part of the film. It’s a YouTube edit.
The nine-year-old liking them, too? I’m still getting used to a reality where kids don’t reliably know these films, even though it’s been close to twenty years now. (Since they were foolishly yanked from mainstream visibility for a long stretch, breaking the decades-long cycle of audience renewal.)
Which wouldn’t bother me as much if I didn’t fear that OUR corpses would be down there with them.
I mean, I frequently mine the well of bad therapy (so to speak), but it rarely occurs to me that it can ever ACTUALLY be that horrible.
What kind of monster with a PhD would say such a thing to anyone, let alone a child??
Does this come from personal experience? Or that of someone you know? Jesus.
Hey, @digby56.bsky.social. Just checking in because it’s very unusual not to see anything posted by either you or Tom Sullivan by this point in the day. Hope everything’s okay.
They think it’s all clout-chasers performing for other clout-chasers. The idea that people could genuinely care about things really doesn’t factor in.
It’s such a bleak, ugly, sunless view of life.
That‘s exactly why the term “virtue signaling“ exists.
It’s spread to mainstream use now (😑), but it originated on the right as a manifestation of their moral stuntedness and how they project their own ugly nihilism onto everyone else.
THEY don’t care, so they think no one ELSE does, either.
Where do people get these kinds of filters? I keep wondering.
I’m especially interested to know if there‘s anything like a “16mm film” one.
That is not what she said, of course.
Their depravity is beyond even what I already knew it to be three damned weeks ago.
Gwen is the reason I realized “Hey wait — his shirt can be blue-on-blue.” 😎
I’ll never wrap my head around the claim (in Frederick Schodt’s landmark 1983 book) that an average manga page is read in 3.75 seconds.
I love Chris Ware and Dan Clowes, but lord am I glad we’ve been able to move past the internal struggles their generation was burdened with about the worth of their medium, and the self-flagellation and doubt that came with it.
We do not apologize for the medium. That’s dead, buried, and gone.
I’m curious how common this is in Japan, because it’s almost nonexistent elsewhere. One of favorite comic authors, Mohiro Kitoh, uses word balloons without tails. He’s the only author I know of who does this, and somehow it usually isn’t confusing. I love the look of those floating “unbroken” ovals.
