Schemes in early years – roleplay activities | Learning and Development | Teach Early Years Teach Early Years magazine is the leading B2B title for early years teachers, practitioners and providers, offering expert advice on educating the 0–5s and operating a sustainable childcare business.

“Schemas are patterns of repeatable behaviour…” (Athey). Schematic play isn’t just early years, it’s how all children make sense of the world. When we observe, understand & extend, we turn “just play” into deep learning, confidence & creativity. Great read 👇 www.teachearlyyears.com/learning-and...

🎉 "Play is for young and old." 💬

Whether you're 4 or 84, play keeps us connected, curious, and alive with possibility. 🌈

Play is not just a childhood activity, it’s a human one.

A fantastic day of play including children making their own library bus from tyres, crates and blocks and the relocation of the outdoor book box. Lots of dancing and moving to music, painting and muddy ice creams from the outdoor kitchen 🌟

Our In service session today discussing the importance of Nurturing Creativity with our Youngest Learners with colleagues from across Angus. A cosy den for our wee character and emotion faces using natural loose parts. We also explored ideas in stories, songs, water, sensory play and paint.

This week in ELC we celebrated World Bee Day learning about the importance of bees, how important it is to look after them and their role in pollination. We have shared stories, looked up facts on the internet, discussed plants and flowers that attract bees and participated in Bee themed crafts 🐝

Bookbug came to visit the children in ELC today as part of #bookbugWeek. Our Bookbug leader Mrs Law read a selection of books and sang songs. The children were all inquisitive about what was in the bag and were engaged throughout. Thanks Mrs Law! @scottishbooktrust.bsky.social
