Very excited to share this finding from my postdoctoral work that is now published in #ScienceAdvances. We show how the gut’s epithelium modifies enteric behaviors during nutritional adversity via distinct peptidergic signaling axes.

This is fantastic. Congratulations Aakanksha and team.
The flags at our EU office in New Delhi fly at half-mast today in memory of the victims of this morning’s plane crash in Ahmedabad.
Europe mourns with India, the UK, Canada and Portugal.
This tragedy affects us all.
Thanks. I was hoping you would know the name. It looks like Olearia macrodonta or Newzealand holly.
URGENT: FlyBase has lost practically all its funding overnight; even user fees are tied up in denied grant funding. 🤬🤯

Fig. 2 Whole-body estimates of sea otter metabolism scaled to body mass. Estimated scaled whole-body metabolic rates include predicted [BMR; predicted on the basis of scaled rate for eutherian mammals], sea otter resting metabolic rate, and whole-body skeletal muscle leak capacity.
Several mammal species live in cold-water environments thanks to adaptations like blubber and large size. A notable exception is the sea otter—so how does it stay warm?
A 2021 Science study found an answer: skeletal muscle thermogenesis.
