it’s actually wild that, as far as i know, there’s nothing about anticovid activism on wikipedia. no mask blocs, no clean air clubs, very little mention of organized guerilla pro-social public health at all thus far.

Long Covid reduces your life span objectively, but also subjectively, in that monotonous years of unchanging illness, stripped of the engaging richness of well-bodied life, can pass terribly swiftly

Incorrect! The pandemic is being *treated* as if it’s over, and a lot of people don’t know what the word means.
“After a 2nd wave of what they believe is suppression of news coverage of their work, the disabled queer and trans artists behind the mutual aid fundraiser play ‘Wake Up and Smell the C*VID’ have published an open letter to actor + playwright Eric Bogosian and AMC.”

There are many people, including children, that have been excluded from society because they are in a group that is known to be more at risk of serious outcomes from COVID-19.
Instead of providing safer places and people to interact with, they are mocked and excluded further.
“Did you wear a mask before Covid?” Is not the gotcha people think it is.
Covid changed things. We have a multi system vascular virus circulating at high levels year round.
Covid taught us about airborne transmission & how effective respirators are.
I wish I had worn them in the before times!
"Please join us for a volunteer appreciation lunch"
Ok, but if you appreciated me, you'd realize that I haven't been doing indoor lunches for 5.5 years because we're still in an airborne pandemic & this risks my health?
listening to the new @jensenmcrae.bsky.social album for the first time on a flight to enhance the experience
We must normalize masks as a public health tool before it’s too late.
If you care about social justice, disability rights, fighting fascism or your health… you should be wearing a mask. Ideally an N95 or better.
The more of us wearing them, the harder they will be to ban.
If you’re not fighting against mask bans because you think they “only” apply to those committing crimes… consider the following:
Who decides who’s committing a crime? The police. POC who mask will be disproportionately targeted.
Who decides if your medical exemption is “good enough”? Police 🧵
Remote work empowers workers, is more accessible, is beneficial for the environment, and frees up urban space for housing. Right-wingers like Elon Musk want to re-assert control over workers, and they’re using pandemic culture wars to do it. My latest:

fyi, this is on their website
“I don’t know anyone with Long Covid!”
I promise you that you do.
Long Covid is an invisible illness. You won’t know someone is impacted unless they choose to tell you.
Many folks hide their disabilities because the world is NOT kind to disabled people. Be an ally. Be someone we can confide in
The maskless #StandUpForScience crowds are my case in point. 🫠
It’s really hard for me as a disabled person to engage seriously with any of the calls to action around what’s happening bc of the very real trauma of being abandoned by the same people to fend for myself against the conditions that disabled me in the first place.
