To me saying it’s a fancy auto-complete is to indicate it doesn’t reason or have a world view. It pattern matches against training data, which fails once reasoning is required

34.8% of children in London live in poverty, and a large part of it is due to housing costs. We’re doing society such a disservice by optimizing for the wealthy obtaining assets rather then quality of life for the population

What’s insane to me is how people look at declining birth rates on the one hand, and the 33% of children living in poverty in the capital on the other hand and go “huh, I wonder what could cause people not to have kids”

These scathing paragraphs do a good job at describing the lack luster vibe around wwdc this year. Previous attempts around VR and AI have stalled out and they’ve gone out of their way to make things worse for developers

I love/hate the new vibe coding: If there’s anything developers hate, it’s having to maintain someone else’s code, and AI will only amplify this

So you end up with something that has the lifespan of a sand castle. It’s great for prototypes, but completely unusable as a foundation of a real product
