Extremely cuddly looking sheep from the corner of the Great Western Trail New Zealand boxart
A diverse group of wooly cuties, each of them a champion among sheep
This dog (that I think is a border collie?) is not technically a sheep.
Exhibit A: Delightful boxart sheep
Exhibit B: All the lovely sheep friends in the actual game
Exhibit C: Not a sheep per se, but just so excited to help you enjoy your sheep to the fullest extent
10/10, each and every one of them

Painted models of buildings on hexagonal bases with different colored roofs to differentiate them

A game board comprising 4 concentric rings of hexagonal spaces marked with die faces from 1-6. 3d versions of ship, buildings and castles replace the original flat cardboard hexes.
The "Watchtower" building after priming, airbrushing, washing dry brushing and painting the roof to match the color of the in-game graphics.
The special edition of Castles of Burgundy is truly decadent and unnecessary and I love it so much. It was surprisingly not terrible to tell apart the 3D building hexes โ even unpainted โ but they deserve a glow up.

Pitchcar: a game made of interlocking wooden track pieces with flickable discs representing the cars. In the background a dry erase board displays qualifying "lap times" measured in number of flicks for a qualifying lap
A yellow car race car game piece leads a pack of 3 more cars by two spaces on a racing game board around a tight hairpin corner in Heat: Pedal to the Metal
Several dry erase clover boards hold cards with multiple random words on them. The players have written a word on each of the 4 leaves of their clover to link the 2 words touching that leaf
A large shipping box freshly opened. The top contains a letter reading "The Castles of Burgundy" in an ornate medieval font. Below that is a shipping manifest for the special edition of Castles of Burgundy
Had a lovely day of board gaming with old friends and new ones. Definitely heavy on the racing games (not pictured: Robo Rally). Also, after a lost package from UPS and a month of fighting with customer service, I got my replacement special edition of Castles of Burgundy! It was a good day.

Stuck to a board game racing circuit from Heat: Pedal to the Medal is attached a post-it that reads "The Steven A Tan Memorial Corner" with an illustration of a cross-shaped gravestone with a tire draped over the top with a bouquet of flowers at the foot of the grave.
Absolutely ate shit on this corner essentially doing the equivalent of 100mph trying to make a right turn in a residential 25mph zone so RIP, remember me
(The game is Heat: Pedal to the Metal)

Rallyman: Dirt continues to be amazing. Played a module w/ Bri โ 1 stage, 3 tries & you can customize your car in between each. The 1st try was definitely us feeling out the track, then we both improved our times, but Bri pushed hard on the last try and won. Never seen a game capture theme so well ๐ค

Numbered dice representing the different gears of a race car laid out in spaces representing a dirt rally stage. The orange car is drifting sideways into a turn behind the purple car.
A white board showing individual race times for 2 stages and cumulative totals.
More numbered dice representing the different gears of a race car laid out in spaces representing a mixed dirt and asphault rally stage
It was unfortunate that as a North American I never got my official Rallyman: Dirt all-in KS pledge, but I do not regret rebuying an all-in copy from Europe. Introduced it to my partner's brother with a tense 2-stage race and ended up playing another one shot before he left. A new top 10 game for me

5 wooden ants line up before a twisting path of food-shaped playing pieces matching the 5 colors of the ants.
The back of the 2023 Robo Rally box depicting it's contents
Bites is so simple and always so fun.
I had high hopes for the new Robo Rally which has definitely made changes for the better compared to its previous iterations, but it still seems to outstay its welcome. Still, it was a good time and now I know to only use the maps marked "short"

Recently played some criminally underrated games. Emerson Matsuuchi's Volt: a 4 player robot programming melee, and Reload โ [insert your favorite battle Royale video game]: The Board Game with a really innovative mechanism where the actions you take determine the strength of your off-turn defenses.
