Assessing California’s Climate Policies—Transportation Chapter 135 of 2017 (AB 398, E. Garcia) requires our office to annually report on the economic impacts and benefits of California’s statutory greenhouse gas (GHG) emission goals—statewide emissions to 1990 levels by 2020 and to 40 percent below 1990 levels by 2030. This report provides our assessment of the effects, of major policies in the transportation sector intended to help meet these goals, as well as identifies some key issues for the Legislature to consider as it makes future policy and budget decisions. In a companion report, Assessing California’s Climate Policies—An Overview, we describe the general types of economic effects of state climate policies, key challenges in measuring these effects, and broad issues for the Legislature to consider when designing and evaluating its climate policies.

Not exactly the format I would want, but discusses the fact that EV tax credits are very expensive in $/ton, and their benefit tends to erode as ICE efficiency standards tighten. Economy-wide measures like gas tax and road tolls do more and cost a lot less.

I’d also be curious about such a ranking.

Why do you think they are bad policy?

I was confused by the line saying that someone sought “a tax abatement from the court” … how does that connect to LPC?

What meeting was this at?

On the other hand, once they’re here, many students embody the best of sustainable transportation, using their own and shared bikes and scooters.

Getting all their stuff into the dorms is definitely a challenge!

Reading these narratives of the formerly enslaved was a treasure. I learned a tremendous amount.

The final list of exact service changes was known October 9, *2024*? (10 months ago?)

Sigh. I had liked how Perplexity attributes sources, giving creators credit. This is disappointing.

Haha! That’s exactly why government data *can* be so helpful! Which database did you use? Link?

Fascinating! Thank you for posting!

It’s wonderful to see families already living here.

Also amazing: for decades, this was a single story building surrounded by surface parking even though it was essentially across the corner from Ashby BART.

At Sylvia Mendez Elementary School, a caravan of parents, kids and commuters took in treats - but also just celebrated being able to ride together.

So much to grieve about these days. I’m also seeing joy and inspiration:

Yesterday, I loved seeing dozens of folks all around the Temescal neighborhood and Mosswood Park who were picking up trash, weeding and otherwise beautifying the neighborhood. Inspiring to see service at work.

I’m always amazed by the booming sound of such a small bird. I love them!

I’ve never done a revolving sushi of any sort! Clearly, I’ve missed out!

Haha. Ippudo was the last place I remember with the crazy lines. I thought, (using grouchy old man voice) “for ramen?!?!”

Is it the quality of the sushi, the variety or something else?

1 year ago 0 0 1 0

It’s always surprising to me to see long lines for a new restaurant. Today, it’s for Kura Revolving Sushi downtown. People seem to have been camped out for at least an hour. I clearly didn’t know this was a thing.

I love that it has a history of radicalism; that my child has had an amazing public school experience; and it’s a wonderfully walkable city.

CHALLENGE: Here’s one for those of you following me from right here in Berkeley (I have no idea how many of u there are, but I’m curious).

Share something you love about our city, without sneaking in (in the usual way we do) a backhanded criticism of any kind.

See if you can do it. #BerkeleyLove
