Does participating actively in the political process make me "a partisan," and, if so, is that problematic? I believe that as many Canadians as possible should pick a side and participate actively in politics and that that's how Democracy will flourish. 2/2
We share some values, but, in other ways we differ. I am a member and donor of the LPC, and I campaigned extensively for the Liberal candidate Will Greaves in my riding. I support the PM and his program but feel that it is still early to see how it will evolve. 1/2
Of all the dangers Canada presently faces, the risk that "... institutional authority [is] replaced by one person’s personal authority. The leader is the platform, the decision-making apparatus, the brand..." like Trump and his executive orders, is way down the list.
It's nonsensical to suggest that Mark Carney is a threat like Donald Trump. Saying that Carney, like Trump, is popular with a large part of the electorate ignores the fact that Canada's electorate is very different in character from that of the US. Carney and Trump could not be more different.

"Mr. Trump, like Mr. Orban, has used his office to enrich himself, his family and his friends. He has issued pardons to political allies. He has cut taxes for the affluent and made it harder for working-class Americans to receive health care."

All the more reason to skip the margin.
“Why was it possible to build capacity exceeding global demand by double in such a short time?
“The key reason is the distortion of resource allocation and inappropriate local government participation.”

Any push to increase school attendance has to deal with the fact that schools are where sickness spreads - and it doesn't stay there. Forcing sick kids to go anyway will make that even worse.
If they're serious, start by cleaning the air. Attendance and learning will improve as kids get healthier.
Voter Turnout: 46,369 of 91,344 registered electors (50.76 %)
Just over 50%.
Even without margin, if you have investments, you're doing well.

Terrebonne goes Liberal!
Thank you. I will look more closely at the Nunatsiaq.
Trump’s “the pope is weak on crime” and his “I’m Jesus” posts today convinced me to re-up this essay. “…the evidence is exceedingly clear…our nation (& the globe) faces increasingly grave danger by allowing this man to continue to control the levers of power.”

The three main sources I looked at were Nunavut News, Nunatsiaq News, and APTN News.
Where did you find those comments?
Guessing this is why he's having 'Executive Time' until 2 PM today ... 😉
I did that and found no strong outcry against Idlout's crossing, except from Don Davies - just a range of diverse opinions. The fact that she won an election where her party was devastated suggests strong personal support. The many who supported the LPC and Carney will also approve crossing.
"Nunavut news shows mixed reception, much of it negative."
Can you provide links to this negative reaction? I haven't been able to find much.
The end of Viktor Orbán’s autocratic regime is a victory not just for Hungary, but for people who value democracy around the world. Congratulations to Tisza, to incoming leader Péter Magyar, and to Hungarians everywhere.
Also, here’s to sending JD Vance to campaign for tinpot autocrats everywhere.
They will be pleased because the Carney government has shown strong support for Nunavut and Idlout's being part of that government will help further that support. The NDP was devastated in the last election, with Idlout being a notable exception. There's little the NDP can do now until it rebuilds.
Under the present system, voters' choices are based on a combination of party and the candidate. Those whose vote was based on the candidate have not had their vote nullified. Some, such as Poilievre supporters, may feel as you suggest. Many voters for Idlout are likely pleased with the crossing.
Canada is a parliamentary democracy. Having a majority government from time to time is normal. It in no way precludes change back to minority government nor a majority led by another party. That is all up to the voters.
