What does that mean? Says JD Vance: "My wife has the right to skydive, but she doesn’t jump out of an airplane because she and I have an agreement that she’s not going to do that because I don’t want my wife jumping out of an airplane,"

I guess Trump and Melanie have no agreements or interactions.

Jumping off on a tangent:
I didn't recognize this picture so I asked an LLM about it. What struck me in the response was the reminder of the origins of "America First". You have MTG and others out there saying they're not MAGA, they're America First. That's more of a fascist codeword than MAGA!

A WHOLE CIVILIZATION
WILL DIE TONIGHT
My son needs lunch, and I have to put his backpack together, but a whole civilization will die tonight, so I'm wondering if they've closed their schools.
Like, a snow day, maybe, except instead of snow it's
"keep your children home so if you die, you die together" — instead of "well open back up once the plows have cleared" it's
"we don't know if we'll be here tomorrow, hold your babies tight."
It's just "talk" I'm told, which I've been told before.
"It's how the president makes his deals." But I've never heard anyone talk about other human beings this way, and I'm not certain I can look my son in the eyes if we all agree to stomach it one more time.
A civilization will die tonight, but as I zip up his backpack and kiss him off to school I think: if this is what we call leadership then I'm not entirely sure ours isn't already dead.

BREAKING: Pope Leo XIV declares the Iran War is “unjust” and “is not resolving anything.”

After suggesting Trump is committing war crimes by targeting civilian infrastructure, he called on Americans to contact Congress to help end the war.

It would only have taken a handful of Republicans in Congress to have stopped this train wreck long ago. Not one stood up. Not one.

With one mouth the billionaires say the United States cannot take care of childcare and the states should tax and spend for it. With another they say "California, you can't tax me, we'll all move to Texas and Florida" and they fight it with their billions. So basically the hell with us, the people.

This morning, the Israeli Police prevented the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, His Beatitude Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Head of the Catholic Church in the Holy Land, together with the Custos of the Holy Land, the Most Reverend Fr. Can Powell and/or the Fed sue for damages?

First thing we should do is pass a law to draft this Mark Montgomery and his children into the Navy and send them as fast as feasible to the strait of Hormuz to fight the Iranians.

It has nothing to do with absolving Trump of blame. I'm genuinely trying to understand if the OP believes Israel was not a factor in the US intervention. I think there are arguments it was a factor, from Rubio's statement, the 12 day war, military strikes they did that removed diplomatic off-ramps.

I'm just trying to understand the original post. In it he juxtaposes 2 claims by this Kent guy, first that "Israel and its powerful American lobby" bears blame for the Iran War and second that Israel et al. bear blame for the 2003 Iraq War. Is the author saying both claims are equally nonfactual?

My own take on Joe Kent is that he's a despicable Nazi who reached the right conclusion on Iran but did so partly because of his vile antisemitism, yet it's still a good development because it shows how Trump's base is further fracturing, which could hasten Trump's downfall

Does that make sense?

On that narrow point of Israel and the Iran War, what role did Israel play in your opinion? None? Partial? In your opinion the Trump administration was itching to attack Iran and initiate what's happening right now and would have done it with or without any Israel involvement?

If he's going to get a national profile on the strength of a younger woman's campaign, I'm going to come out and say it: during his short-lived tenure as a math professor, Biss had an inappropriate romantic relationship with one of his undergraduate students. I was that student.

One of those 8 wars is ... the 12 day war with Iran. Also, what's happening right now where we killed their head of state is not war yet one of the 8 "wars" Trump claims credit for is an argument over a damn between Egypt and Ethiopia. WTF???

What if they only attacked us back because they knew that if they attacked back we would continue to attack back therefore preemptively attacking our retaliation infrastructure?
