Suspect those that “plug-in” transition to BEV (PEV with larger pack), those that don’t continue on ICE path (pure-ICE, or hybrid-ICE).

Expect not many are repeat PHEV buyers? PHEV ownership trade-in data could tell a story, if is available.

I recall Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV was sold in Norway, UK, Japan and US last decade. Had 12-16 kWh pack with CHAdeMO DC (slow throttled)

US AC pricing trend in 2025/26 is toward pricing to DC rates. Many AC stalls have poor upkeep and have a high rate of vandalism.
CPOs been shifting focus to DC.

It’s odd for a OEM/review not mention prior vehicle models to provide context on specs/trims of upcoming vehicle models.

BTW: today Kroger announced a major partnership with EVgo (DC). Kroger was previously a significant host to Volta AC sites. (Albertsons, Safeway, etc. branded groceries)

Even exploring Plugshare (App), it’s impossible to tell which CPO sites are active, transitioning, abandoned, or will be removed.

Ironically the CPO continues to have a huge brand/marketing presence within Plugshare App.

eg: 80-90% of AC locations of this CPO went dark at midnight EST on Jan 7, 2026. No specific numbers provided.
~10% have been rebranded under Jolt CPO.

Unfortunately no organization actively tracks AC (L2) ghosted charging stalls that are unreliable, abandoned-in-place, been vandalized, or gone months/years without maintenance.

Many ghosts still appear in charging app/databases as activity available. (inflated numbers circulated, unverifiable)

Its interesting that @electrek.co makes no mention or reference to Kia’s prior generation of EVs … as a reference or comparison.

In 2026, the number of locations with reliable publicly accessible AC destination charging has greatly diminished. More typical is restricted, or private AC charging.

DC charging has become typical norm for reliable accessible public charging.

Most PHEVs only support AC charging, not DC. 🤔
