My hope is that this could be the only good thing the Trump delievers EU.
When EU leaders understands that T is so severely sick with malign narcissism that he believes his feelings equal facts, then they maybe get their ac together.
Or maybe US arms delievery to ru is needed to wake them up.
He understand that this must be discoussed (and implementet, if Russia is to be credible deterred), but then the doctrine has to be changed.
And with the pro-Russian FN in the outskirts, and the election coming up next year, its difficult.

2) Move forces into Ukraine. Not as a PR-stunt, but as an actual deterrence. It is very easy to defend legally, in defending civilians from war crimes. Russia already deploy regular forces from the DPRK.

I agree that conventional and nuclear deterrence is two different things. But the overlaying mentality ("we must not irritate the Russians") is the same, which we both agree is a failure.

The government can therefore easily propose 1000 billion for Ukraine support, and the parliament can adopt this by simple majority vote.
There is great support among the population for increasing support for Ukraine, up from the current level.

The fund is NOT bound by any laws other than what is already in the constitution. It says that the Storting (parliament) adopts the budget by majority vote.

We have something called the 'action rule' which states that we should not use more than 3% of the fund's return to help the state budget.
But this is just a common political agreement, NOT a statutory rule.

The goal of the welfare fund is:

I can think of no more appropriate measures than to enable Democracy to prevail.

Macron is correct in that we should speak to Putin. We should definitly tell Putin that our war aims is to restore Ukrainian territory in full, no compromise. And at the same time show him some carrots if he retreats willingly.
Now, Europe is just outsourcing their diplomacy to Trump. Stupid.
