Recently, my esteemed ex-colleague Bennett gave an NYU Game Center Lecture Series talk on his work — most recently Baby Steps.
@axjacobs.bsky.social has this excellent critique tho: WHOSE truths about how we move thru the world are we treating as universal?! 🔥

HNY! i've been deep in the parenting trenches as we nurse two babies thru this szn's awful flu - i found respite in enjoying this v niche brain soothing video where someone synced Defying Gravity with a Rollercoater Tycoon track so i def did not want to gatekeep this lol

spoilers for tonight's talk. been thinking a bit about how downplaying guns in Indiana Jones unintentionally parallels Soft Body's development of removing more and more bullets and projectiles from the game towards the end of development. Most proud of 7 Halloween levels that had ZERO projectiles.
Pitch: "You are Indiana Jones" 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
So excited about tonight's @nyugamecenter.bsky.social Lecture Series talk from Zeke Virant, one of our first MFA grads from 2014 who is now Lead Game Designer at MachineGames, and talks about his work on Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Join us on Twitch! www.twitch.tv/nyugamecenter
For the past couple of years I've worked with a team of students and alumni of the NYU Game Center on a collection of original essays about games. We call this collection S Rank, and we just released our second volume.

This thread is absolutely wild. Not sure how much (if any) of this is hallucinations re: info about the team that created Liv, but the overall jist of this is pretty telling either way.
We're all sitting here with like, the 200 or so emails in our inboxes so records were definitely kept! 😅
can confirm this was a wild ride, but i guess someone at NYU IT hit the emergency button at last... a shame because it started getting kind of spicy at the end. @lainenooney.bsky.social did a great public service by sharing some of the journey in this thread!
yeeesss dash rendar! love that.
I didn't get to mention this in the article but as a teen I ran a site/mailing list which was part of it called "The Han Solo-ists", lolllll
