I can *eyeball* exposure better than this thing can meter. Absolutely horrible. I love it.

I got the negatives back from this thing. Most of the photos are underexposed. The meter sucks I guess?

Apparently X68000 towers have tripled in price since I had mine so I don't think I'll be getting one of those again, even if it had some really fun games

thinking about how akumajou dracula on the x68000 has some of the most awesome music just for the blank screen while it's loading from the floppy disks

Oh yeah, I had neglected to think about how it required a bunch of proprietary equipment, vs 135 which was really just a length of film

For such a hated format it seems quite ahead of its time, and the cameras that go with it are pretty damn good

After using APS a little, it seems…well designed?

- Impossible to mess up loading, you just put the canister in and close the door.
- Mid roll rewind/resume
- Film stored in the canister after dev so it doesn’t get easily damaged or dusty.
- Negative is easy to retrieve from the canister

Fun thing is that the lab still had all the proper APS processing equipment, so I got the negatives back in the canister, and properly scanned with the old hardware!

I was honestly expecting nothing from these! The EOS IX is one of a few APS cameras that can shoot manual, so I shot these 2 stops over

Got back Noritsu scans from the 20-years-expired APS rolls and…they look great?

i don’t think the me of 2019 that had just picked up a nikon fe, and barely knew how to operate a camera, would have imagined that i’d be doing shit like this

6 days ago 3 0 0 0

this is unfortunately my 4th large format camera :p. have a toyo 45c for studio work, shen hao hzx45 iia for outside, an intrepid 4x5, and this

so much about this was cursed

- darkslide as shutter (couldn’t find an appropriately sized cap to slip over the lens)
- instax just gaffer taped into the film holder
- sat the camera on a table since it has a proprietary tripod mount (a large ring on the bottom of the camera)

yeah, that’s what i normally do, but i didn’t have anything ready to cover the lens with. so this worked in a pinch since it’s just a proof of concept

happy to say that there’s seemingly no light leaks. it just works!!!

omfg i actually took a picture using a camera from the 19th century. there’s some camera shake from me exposing via the removing and replacing the dark slide (no shutter), but it’s properly exposed and in focus

it was a 0.5s exposure at f/8 on instax wide gaffer taped to some old sheet film

Also found a lab that will do the 13x18cm (slightly more than 5x7”) film it uses (though I guess I could just load 5x7” since it’s close enough). In either case they said I can post them the film, so that’s that sorted!

Cleaned up the Sanderson camera. Was a bit dusty, as you can imagine for something over 125 years old.

To my eye it doesn’t seem to have light leaks, but I’ll know for sure once i shoot some instant film!

I guess maybe I should just do a test with a Polaroid first to see if I even need to fix anything; it might just be in the outer covering material

Also trying to decide how to best repair the bellows on this thing. There’s a few small pinholes in the corners. I’ve seen some people recommend 3M 850 tape? Not looking to do a bellows replacement as that’ll cost a lot and need a lot of work

There’s other issues with dev’ing at home (need to make sure everyone in the house is comfortable having the chems around). But if I go down that route this looks like a pretty nice option

1 week ago 1 0 1 0

That could work.

I’ve fit a whole 4x5 monorail camera in my dark bag when the film escaped the holder once. Surely it can’t be much worse than that….

I can’t really do tray dev at home, I do not have a room I can completely darken easily, nor one that is big enough to have trays sitting around.

Looks like my other option is to send it to Fujifilm in Germany via my local lab. But then dev takes nearly a month.

My usual lab for 4x5” got back to me saying that they can’t do tray dev, *but* that they could order a 3D-printed reel for their Jobo setup (without any guarantee against scratches because of how 3D printed plastic tends to be a bit rough).
