a scrungly Hawthorn now watches over my doomscroll

Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️
Graphic with three drawings. Two are quick black and white sketches of cats, and the other is a more carefully done color drawing of a dog. The text says “Quick ‘n scrungly pet portrait - $25. Less scrungly - $50. DM me to enquire!”
I was bombarded by a series of unexpected expenses over the last couple of weeks, so I’ve decided to try something new and open up commissions! I love to draw quick pet portraits (especially cats, but I’m open to any kind of critter). LMK if you’re interested, and please share!
It’s such great all-purpose word and definitely extremely cat-coded 😆
Absolutely! Thanks so much!
This is a quick and scrungly. My very scientific criteria for this basically boils down to “less scrungly” having color and more rendering/detail.
Awesome, thank you!!!
Awww yaaaay I am so honored ❤️

Oh man. It’s been probably decades, but my memory is that I found it on a website with a bunch of public domain ghost stories. The story was set in either the US or the UK, but I don’t remember which. No memory of any details about the author.
Thanks (and thank you for introducing me to a new late 19th c invisible creature story)!
Yeah, none of the James stories I’ve looked at seem quite right. Thanks so much for your help with the sleuthing, this is driving me crazy!
Oh wow, that does have a lot of very similar elements! But I don’t think that’s it (unless my memory of the details has really warped over time). I strongly remember the creature being totally invisible and having a foul odor.
Ok, I finally got to sit down and read it. Super interesting, but definitely not the same story!
I have no memory of how it ended, unfortunately.
Thank you! It’s been literally decades, but iirc the characters who’d been at the seance continued to be haunted by this thing after the fact. They’d smell weird smells and feel the creature brushing against them and stuff. I think they also started to get sick, and maybe one of them died?
Ooh, thank you, I will take a look and see if maybe this is it!
Does anyone know what this might be? I think I read it on an online archive of public domain ghost stories, but my Google chops are failing me. It has haunted me (so to speak) for years.
Fellow ghost story aficionados, I need your help. I read a short story years ago that I *believe* dates to the very early 20th c about a skeptic who goes to a seance and ends up being haunted by an invisible entity that feels like a hairless animal and has a musky smell. I can't find it anywhere.
Aaah, this is so cool! Thanks for featuring The Shabti, @inkdrinkersbooks.bsky.social!
Do any of your characters have a theme song? Porphyrio from The Shabti absolutely does, and it's this:
Aaaah, thank you! Neill’s art has been embedded deep in my psyche since early childhood, so the influence is definitely there. ❤️
Thank you! 😄
Thank you! I’ve always loved drawing with ballpoint pen, there’s just something special about the linework you can do with it.
Ballpoint pen drawing of a young woman with short, wavy hair wearing a newsboy cap. The drawing is on a piece of junk mail. Part of a handwritten grocery list is visible to the right.
I’m cursed to do my best doodles on the worst drawing surfaces. This is a character from a short story I’m working on (that might balloon into a little novella if I’m not careful…)
Seriously, Bluesky? An adult content warning? 🫤

Here is a small sampling of illustrations that rewired my brain chemistry as a child.

Katie's surgery to remove the soft tissue sarcoma on her nose is on Friday, so please send good vibes.
I know this is the worst time to ask for donations, but shares are always appreciated.
I am boosting this because it looks like this noxious bill is going to make it out of committee.
