The Wii U means a lot to me. I was there when it was hated and ridiculed. I wasnt a kid anymore at that point. I genuinely, sincerely loved playing games on it.

Looking back just to hate on it is like kicking a dog thats been dead for over a decade.

Alright, rant over.

I just cant comprehend people looking at the sorry state of current nintendo and saying its all better now.

The only thing better are their financials, because the Wii U didnt charge you for online play or asked for 20 bucks to play a gba rom.

The Wii U still had Iwata, and man do i see that now

I am seeing a lot of Wii U slander all of a sudden, saying things like owning it was social humiliation and the darkest timeline.

I love my Wii U, i poured thousands of hours into it while it was actively supported. I still boot it up sometimes.

Good games matter, and the Wii U had those in spades

I can say with confidence that i managed to fix my xbox. If anything, it was a great learning experience and i am glad i dug as deep into it as i did.

Plus i am having a blast playing games on it. I rediscovered how much i adore the doa series and how much of a knack itagaki had for fun game design

Alright so i soldered the broken connection on the motherboard of my xbox and it seems to work??

Been playing, turning it on and off, switching games, it works perfectly so far.

I will give it some more testing time but this is looking very promising

I dont really have the experience but i will try anyways. I rather have a broken xbox than a faulty one tbh. Yanking it from power everytime it acts up cant be healthy long term

Got my hands on a multimeter and its as i suspected, a broken trace. The resistor and PIC responsible for the eject button have no continuity.

I will have to reconnect these two tiny spots with a wire and solder it in place. Fun

Seems like i was celebrating too early. It turned itself on again in the middle of the night.

So basically, when connected to power, the problem went from "always turns itself on" to "sometimes turns itself on"

Would have been sad to lose it like this. I love how it encapsulates the early 2000s in vibes and attitude.

I remember visiting my gamer aunt when i was really young. She played dead or alive 2 ultimate and i thought to myself "wow video games will never look better than this"

...and i was right

Spent the last four hours disassembling and deep cleaning my original xbox because it started turning on and ejecting discs by itself. I removed the clock capacitor too since its prone to cause issues down the line.

It actually worked. Stupid thing runs again like a charm. Lets fucking go!

I was busy sketching and drawing the entire day and nothing worthwile came from it. I am searching for something that seems just out of my reach.

i noticed i draw best when i have a friend yap at me in vc. distracts me from little mistakes and prevents me from overthinking. plus the real time feedback is always nice to have

Last year has honestly been awful for me mentally, especially the second half. I hit lows i thought i would never hit again. And while not everything has been resolved, i am getting better slowly.

I want to create more again, get into a nice groove, and i thank anyone deciding to stick with me 💙
