Feel like it should be a bigger story that Howard Lutnick's firm (run by his kids) created a financial product to buy up tariff refund claims at a major discount, and will now be cashing in on the higher costs passed onto consumers.

A group of Ecuadorian fishermen survived a US drone strike, were detained at gunpoint, hooded, phones wiped, ship blown up, disappeared to El Salvador, then released without charge.
“They knew we were fishermen. Even the Salvadorian authorities said things had been handled very badly.”
FranklinBenedict • 17h * New York Mets I just want to say that the New York Mets are now 47-70 since playing "Kokomo" on the day Brian Wilson died last June. The curse no one is talking about. 4 Reply 3 3,172少 yumyumapollo • 17h Ro Tampa Bay Rays ® Top 1% Commenter Met Sounds 5 个18941
Kash Patel: “This negative media coverage will not distract me from my job.” [spends week suing magazine and giving TV interviews about it]
I’ve never said a single positive thing about this weirdo. Never got what some people saw. Apparently people who did find anything good to say about him were just idiots.
The actual risk here is if the public knew the content of the behind the scenes deliberations, it would be harder than it already is for some legal academics to pretend the court just calls balls and strikes.
Shohei Ohtani has now reached base in 52 straight games. He occasionally pitches too.
Some company is eventually just going to call itself Satan.
Caitlyn Jenner’s world is a cocoon of privilege. You can’t be an activist on an issue like she wants to be…even a deeply personal issue…if you just have the President on speed dial like this. No one else has that privilege. 3/
And really: neither can she. Which is why she’s trying to get her passport fixed. 2/
She’s a weird celebrity. Nothing, nothing interesting to say. She talks politics. But her politics is “I’m friends with Trump.” Which…fine, whatever. But the rest of us can’t use that information to make decisions. 1/
Does anyone even know why he posted this?
documentary in which the Minions reenact their past atrocities in Indonesia.
Right. Based on what we know Liptak is in the same boat as every attorney who shares the contents of the memos.
The WH is in a complete, total state of confusion.
I can’t believe the company that’s founded by a fascist vampire and named after an evil wizard‘s all seeing stone has some fucked up ideas about politics.
I don’t think there’s any way even the best consumers of news could know what’s going on in/with Iran right now.
And just that’s a real scandal.
It’s a swamp. A real one. And in some areas that produces some charming neighborhoods with nice trees, etc. It’s a long ways though from the kinds of things that interest me.
A lot of these guys wouldn’t give RFK Jr credit for saying we should exercise, but Hanania making some anodyne point gets him applause.
But it’s the same thing. Just manipulating people by being a broken clock.
The African American population in LA still largely lives in South Central. And it’s shrinking. From almost 500k in the 80s to around 300k now.
Southwest from the city center out is really diverse. Katy is probably 70% white.
The guy knew exactly the buttons to push. So depressing.
And what I see of him now suggests to me he’s just whatever he needs to be online for engagement. 2/
If I’m remembering it right, he came on the scene during the early days of the Russian attack on Ukraine as a staunch defender of Ukraine. I do not recall him being right coded.
His interest in American politics began to feel weird to me. He’s not here. 1/
I suspect that a largely under reported story right now is substance abuse in elite circles on the right.
It was such an unusual city. Just the right size. Weird in a fun way. And I feel like being different in that way from the rest of the state is why it’s weird in another way: out of staters saw it as the cool place in Texas.
I really wonder how much of it isn’t Texas transplants and Texas just getting a large portion of a center kind of person (which, again, I think you see around Nashville). Daily Wire in TN. Rogan in Austin…
Demographic maps of Houston are really striking, for just being a blur. Way out from the city center.
Austin also seems like a weird city now. And not in the way it used to be. Much like Nashville, Austin seems to be the “Texas” that out of staters idealize. And they’re moving there in droves and really changing the vibe of the area.
You wouldn’t see this in Houston, I don’t think. Houston has some shitty weather. But that city is crazy diverse and celebrates it. Suburbs and all as far as I could tell.
