An envelope marked 'BRITISH — THE SMELL IDENTIFICATION TEST'.

<sniff> <sniff> No. Don’t tell me. Smells a bit like... a plastic bag caught in a tree? No, wait: is it the whiff of people complaining about Gen Z? No, hang on — it’s the heady waft of someone going too fast on an e-scooter and nearly hitting you, isn’t it? No? Oh. OK. Is it Laura Kuenssberg?

"Your Account is Suspended" Message on X

The CEO of Palantir posted a fascist manifesto on X.

I pointed out that it was fascist—which resulted in a permanent suspension from X (my second time!).

So, when you hear the tweeters complaining that BlueSky is intolerant, remember why many of us came here in the first place.

Because we get asked a lot.

The Technological Republic, in brief.

1. Silicon Valley owes a moral debt to the country that made its rise possible. The engineering elite of Silicon Valley has an affirmative obligation to participate in the defense of the nation.

2. We must rebel against the tyranny of the apps. Is the iPhone our greatest creative if not crowning achievement as a civilization? The object has changed our lives, but it may also now be limiting and constraining our sense of the possible.

3. Free email is not enough. The decadence of a culture or civilization, and indeed its ruling class, will be forgiven only if that culture is capable of delivering economic growth and security for the public.

4. The limits of soft power, of soaring rhetoric alone, have been exposed. The ability of free and democratic societies to prevail requires something more than moral appeal. It requires hard power, and hard power in this century will be built on software.

Palantir put out a 22-point summary of their CEO's book The Technological Republic. It's pitched as a defence of the West, but if you read it through the VDA framework, verification, deliberation, accountability, what it's actually doing looks rather different.

Anfield stadium filled with Liverpool supporters creating a red, yellow, and white mosaic in the stands that forms the number 97, a tribute to the Hillsborough disaster victims. Players from both teams line up at midfield, with referees and a few photographers standing nearby. The pitch is green and well-kept, and the large roof of the stadium is visible overhead.

Unlawfully killed, unfairly blamed. Always remembered, never forgotten. Justice for the 97. 🌹

Lovely people, these Reform UK candidates for the upcoming election, and great to know they're on our side.

What else is Riley Gaines going to do? Have the dignity and principles to stand up to Trump, which would cause the grift to come to an end? That wouldn’t be very MAGA.
