But I thought chaos was his speciality Patrick

Canadian here. I’ve been avoiding American products and paying for American based services, to the extent feasible, and have not set foot in America, since you president began threatening us.
Sounds like the story here is “here is a rich kid”
Come on you know what I meant there. It means he’s clearly a legit component of the coalition you claim to want to be a part of and to dismiss his as ineligible suggests you don’t really believe at all in that project. I’m starting to think you’re actively disingenuous, so good bye.
Ok. Newsom, warts and all, has earned more Dem votes than literally any other contender. I also don’t think he’s the best option but he’s definitely going to be one of the contenders. Anyone who declares a candidate with that record to be a no vote “red line” is toxic to the fight against MAGA.
Explain that.
Then say that! Say “I don’t think he’s likely to win and I think <preferred candidate> has a better shot because <reasons>” if that’s what you think. Persuade. Don’t say “hey, so-called ‘coalition’, my way or the highway so fuck you”. I feel like a broken record here.
You are not at all advocating for a coalition, you’re advocating for bullying the rest of the coalition for your preferences, and then trying to pretend that’s not what you’re doing. In the face of objective reality, I reiterate again I think that’s appalling and dangerous.
My goal is to beat MAGA, and the only path to do that is for the Dem candidate to win, regardless as to where on the Dem coalition spectrum they are. On that understanding I’d support whomever is the Dem candidate, full stop. Independent votes are needed, not just vote from “within the coalition”.
Then you’re not a coalition member, you’re a hostage taker. I think your approach is dangerous and appalling.
I didn’t mean the name calling part (sorry), I meant saying I’m asking for fealty. You’re declaring ineligible a candidate that clearly has a sizeable constituency within the coalition. That is the opposite of coalition building. You can dislike him but no need to declare him persona non grata.
I again said no such thing. I am saying don’t make declarations that you will not vote for candidate so-and-so, that I think those sorts of positions are dangerous and wrong to take. I ask you once again to please engage with what I am saying.
You’re truly shitty members of a coalition then. There is only one purpose of the coalition… to win the actual election, not the primaries. There are different perspectives on how to do that but that is the only goal of this coalition. You’re holding your “coalition” hostage to your preferences.
You’re not “pushing anyone to be better” by declaring you will not vote for a dem you don’t like. You’re normalizing behavior that it’s ok to passively support MAGA if you don’t get your preferred Dem candidate.
I am doing no such thing. Engage with what I am actually doing. I’m saying that making/normalizing statements that you will not vote for so-and-so for pres if they are the nominee are inherently unnecessary, stupid and dangerous. Advocate for what you want, don’t hold democracy hostage over it.
So then, to be blunt, who cares about you. You’re irrelevant. Stay out of it. What you’re doing here is normalize that shitty argument for other people — whose votes may matter — to engage in behavior that supports MAGA.
Why? If the other option here in the real world is an even worse and far more dangerous shithead?
That looks kinda uninspired. Just a default jersey concept.
So what’s your plan?
Yeah but they could have just said nothing, regardless as to what their actual intentions are. It doesn’t make sense to me to release this douchey statement immediately after what appears to be good faith compromise from Pavco/government. Say something meaningful about staying or shut up and go?
Seems they’ve been fucking with us and look like giant assholes at the moment whose bluff has been called. Unless they can come clean and clearly tell us what it takes to stay (and what that is doesn’t make them sound horrible… which it probably does, otherwise they’d have already said it).
This reads 100% like they were looking to blame the government/pavco for needing to leave and the gov called their bluff. Unless Caps can explain in clear reasonable-ish terms with transparent specificity what they actually want… well I will have to conclude they’ve been fucking with us all along.
I’d 1000% rather put effort into keeping the Caps than hosting the World Cup. My enthusiasm for hosting the World Cup has waned considerably this last year, everything about FIFA and the tournament is pure money grab corrupt bullshit.
I’d be keen to hear what you can report!
Did he say anything about the whitecaps stadium issues and hints about losing the team 🫣
Patrick can we get some deeper reporting on what the actual issues are? It’s all vague statements that the options available aren’t good enough. What about them isn’t good enough? What is needed to fix it? I can’t tell who if anyone is being honest/reasonable here. No actual details on the issues.

What have you heard about Cheikh Sabaly?
The term is “international students”
