Let’s let our city leaders know that we support taxing the wealthy and the investor class, people who are doing really well in this economy while the rest of us are being hammered by increasing costs across the board.
“While the bosses & the lobbyists at the Metro Chamber cry about tax cuts, we desperately need direct assistance to and protections for renters.”

Unidentified law enforcement operating in our city doesn't make Portlanders safer. Let's promote accountability, transparency & public trust. Tell the Community & Public Safety Committee to support the “Right to Know Who’s Policing You” ordinance.

Blue text on playful yellow and red background: FRIENDS OF PRESCHOOL FOR ALL CANDIDATE PLEDGE As a candidate for public office in the Portland Metro area, I pledge that I will be a strong advocate for Preschool for All, Multnomah County's landmark universal preschool program, by doing everything within my power to: Carry out the will of the voters by ensuring a free preschool spot for every 3 and 4 year old in the county whose family wants one, as soon as possible. Retain the funding model that was resoundingly approved by county voters 2 to 1. Reject any further delays in fully funding the program and support the full tax rate as approved by voters. Advocate and vote against ANY actions that limit the program or reduce it. Base decisions on what Preschool for All needs to succeed on input from program staff, providers, advocates, and early childhood education experts — not conservative lobbyists with little knowledge of or interest in early childhood education and helping families of all income levels thrive. New public records give insight into a Portland city councilor’s idea to sue the city, let the mayor break a tie, and decide the council’s president in January. A longtime labor leader told the Mercury she was “an observer,” but public records starkly contrast her laissez-faire, big tent narrative.
The county has limited data about who’s paying its Preschool for All tax, which only went into effect in 2021. Still, some seized on a 14% dip in high-income filers between 2021 and ‘22 to suggest the tax drove wealthy ppl away. New data complicates that narrative.

At the regular Council meeting this morning, during public comment, Tyler Fellini of @jwjpdx.bsky.social noted that the Mayor suggested that the 1/31 teargassing of Portlanders by the feds at the ICE Out Labor Rally was justified by the actions of a few. It was completely unjustified.
Hey Portland! The richest few people in the state (some of them don't even go here) are still itching to evade taxation by destroying Preschool for All. Our electeds KNOW that P4A is good public policy, but politicians still need reminders to be brave. Sign here!! actionnetwork.org/petitions/fu...

I just got tear gassed along with thousands of union members, many of whom had their families with them. Federal agents at the ICE facility tear gassed children. We must abolish ICE, DHS, and we must have prosecutions. I expect to see enforcement of our city code prohibiting the use of tear gas.
Congressional Democrats need to understand that "Abolish ICE" is not a slogan, "not another penny" is literal, & anyone who votes for a 2-week $ extension, so you MIGHT get ICE wearing instead of holding the camera as they film themselves killing people, is getting played. (And maybe primaried.)

NEW: Portland Councilor Loretta Smith allegedly fired a staffer for union organizing. An unfair labor practice complaint, filed today, claims Smith showed increasingly hostile behavior to the worker following the union announcement, culminating in his termination last week.
The Mercury has obtained a series of images of group messages that show racist, sexist, and homophobic tropes used by a local developer and other local conservative political activists during a council president election. Readers may find this content offensive.
This sure looks a lot like the Mayor ousting an expert on long-term housing solutions to force internal administrative support for his camping ban (sweeps).
Grateful you're safe!
