this took much, MUCH longer to cook than what i was expecting... nearly 100 hours of work spanning 3 whole weeks, but i'm also very happy with how it turned out :3

to clarify: adding abandon bans to casual is NOT the solution

the SOLUTION is to tell the matchmaker not to start a match as soon as it finds 12 players

it's stupidly obvious (by the large amount of people insta-leaving, first and foremost) that nobody wants to play a 6v6...

wouldn't be surprised if the cheater bots, which eventually turned into slot-stealing bots, are now poisoning the matchmaker with bots that instantly disconnect as soon as they find a match

but there's also a good portion of people that don't want to bother with an empty server

it has been nearly 5 months, and there have been zero improvements ever since - if anything, it has only gotten worse, and now *most* matches are affected by it

the only exceptions to this rule are popular maps (which get boring very quickly) or payload (garbage tiktok slop)

the issue is obvious: there have been tweaks to the matchmaker around halloween (to promote faster match finding, i assume) that have remained ever since

and now, it has the opposite effect - it's finding matches way too fast. so fast, in fact, that it's terribly inefficient

hopped on tf2 for the first time in 3 weeks the other day and i can safely say that i had one of the most unplayable experiences to date, strongly rivaling the era of the bot crisis

Every Single Match was either DOA, a spawncamping steamroll (giving and receiving end), or both

i'm still heartbroken that i wasn't able to finish it for today, but i'm simply human, and a very slow one at that

but, i'm also a perfectionist, and i won't stop working on it until it is perfect, however long it takes!
