I agree our income tax is progressive enough, what we need is a progressive wealth tax on all assets over, say, 10 million. The ultra-wealthy don't earn income, they take out loans on appreciating assets.

First long(ish) distance ride with the kid not on the cargo bike, enjoying the safe bike infrastructure here in the Northwest Bronx.

Pretty telling what politicians get to define their beliefs themselves irregardless of their actions, like Vance, and what politicians get their beliefs defined by their opponents, irregardless of their actions and statements, like Zohran.

What do you use to secure the kids bike? Looking for something myself.

I'm sure GM, Chrysler, and Ford can figure out a way to make EV's unreliable, it's what American Automakers have always specialized in.

Yeah that would be great, it just hasn't happened here yet.

I don't disagree, we should be moving away from large single family lots everywhere in the country. A true transition to EV's should not rely on people charging the cars overnight in attached garages. Would also help if there were reasonable sized EVs available in the NA market.

The US still needs to figure out charging infrastructure though, EV's only really work here if you live in a single family home with a dedicated parking spot. For people in cities its still (unfortunately) really impractical. Also, would be nice if there were options other than huge SUVs.

I think having a functioning Healthcare system would go a long way to stopping quack-science. People are less likely to try the magic pills to cure their medical issues if they can afford to see a real doctor.

Average Bsky poster: "We must inaugurate a Second Reconstruction with blood and fire."

Average Democratic politician: "We are in a war for the Republic, which is why I propose a 23.7% tax cut."

Average liberal columnist: "For too long the transgenders have blocked research into the racial IQ gap."

They sure are. Minivans in the late 90'a were peak automotive design. Seated 7, shorter than a modern Honda Civic, reasonable mileage. I used to be in a band and we could fit more gear in the back of an old minivan with the seats out than a huge SUV we also had access to, plus 10 mpg more.

I've had car rental places "upgrade" me to SUV's when I reserved a car and it annoys me so much. Oh so I get less interior space and worse mileage, gee thanks. I was able to convince one agency to give me a minivan instead, at least those are roomy.

It's also worth noting that the effective speed limit is 35 mph since speed cameras don't ticket someone until they are 11 mph over. Personally, I think lowering the limit to 20 near schools makes sense coupled with lowering speed cameras tolerance to 6 mph over citywide.

Co-ops in Riverdale, Bronx you can get 1000+ Square-Feet 2 bed 2 bath with separate dining rooms and dishwasher and laundry for under 400K still. Works out to less than $3K a month.

Sad but understandable, indoor malls never made sense in walkable cities, even with Maine's climate I'd rather be walking around outside in Portland.

That seems crazy high for just a slight uptick in gas prices. I would think gas would have to go above $15 a gallon for it to have a measurable effect.

Also huge reduction in insurance fraud from people who have registered their vehicles out of state. It could theoretically lead to reduced insurance costs for NYC residents if insurance companies passed ther savings onto customers (they wont).

I think charging for something usually implies the thing you are buying exists, unless it is very cheap. I do kind of like the idea of weeding out insurance frauds and fake plates by requiring cars be registered to NYC for a pass through.

Geographicaly Central America is North America full stop. Culturaly it sometimes gets classified as its own thing because it is more Spanish than the US and Canada but that's always rubbed me the wrong way.

What format is the existing data in?

I wouldn't call modern minivans mini anymore, all the new ones are huge. Minivans used to be shorter than modern Honda Civics, now they are basically more efficient Chevy Suburbans. Wish they'd bring back the Mazda5 minivan.

Ape Family Tree showing humans as a branch of Ape.

All humans are apes! We are part of the ape family. (Not saying the thing trump posted wasn't racist, it certainly was, but history will record that we are all apes)
