Join us at an upcoming town hall in Provost (April 22nd), Airdrie-Cochrane (April 29th), Calgary-Bow (May 12th) and Lethbridge (date TBA) to learn about the problem, discuss solutions and meet other Albertans affected by these issues. Admission is free and refreshments will be served.
Alberta municipalities are being forced to slash their budgets because of $254 million in unpaid taxes by oil & gas companies. And all Albertans are facing increased taxes as oil & gas companies’ costs are shifted to the public.

The state of solar: Despite partisan rhetoric, the industry is still booming #Climate
"Countries are paying the price for oil addiction, not just in their energy bills but in food prices, consumer inflation, shortages, and businesses threatened with collapse. . . .This conference comes in the best possible moment.”

Here's some good news as you head into your weekend:
In a first last month, renewables supplied more power to the U.S. than natural gas, a milestone in the shift to clean energy.

"But every time she calls the province's energy regulator, she says they tell her everything is operating as it should be."
Albertans agree: polluters should clean up their messes.

The oil wells on Teresa's land are "venting a steady stream of methane and potentially dangerous chemicals...Patry can smell the fumes from her home, and she believes they are negatively impacting her health and that of her family and animals."

Roof with solar panels
Hey, Albertans. Australians get three hours of FREE electricity every day, because their country generates so much solar power. Why can't we have that? Oh, right. Because our provincial government does everything it can to block renewable energy and enrich oil & gas billionaires.

"If a huge chunk of the global economy announces that it intends to leave fossil fuels behind...investors and government planners everywhere would have to question whether sinking new money into oil exploration, coal mining, or gas terminals makes financial sense"

Pretty sure that if the Alberta government were *actually* concerned about shielding kids from graphic images, they'd go after the internet, not libraries. Bill 28 isn't about protecting children, it's about distracting us from the government's abysmal performance.

I'm with Paula. So grateful to have such a thoughtful senator and Albertan. . .
Luddites "weren’t afraid of machines. They were afraid of what the Industrial Revolution would do to their communities.... Before our own post-industrial AI revolution overwhelms us, let’s decide which human values we’re willing to sacrifice—and which we’re not."

Today’s agreement-in-principle Alberta is an important step forward.
After months of regulatory gridlock, this agreement will deliver certainty for companies, which will unlock investment and mean emissions begin to be reduced.

No CO₂ Pipelines Alberta is fighting back against this development, and will be holding a series of town halls across rural and urban Alberta over the coming months to lead community resistance. Find out more at noco2pipelines.ca/

This project includes a CO₂ pipeline run through regular Albertans’ backyards, with massive safety and economic risks. CCUS projects by the o&g industry are a classic greenwashing tactic, and a leaking or ruptured CO₂ pipeline can harm people and animals within a 20 km “hazard zone.”

The newly-renamed Oil Sands Alliance is planning to construct a massive, taxpayer-funded, multi-billion dollar Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) project across northeast Alberta as part of the Alberta-Canada Memorandum of Understanding.
