Glad it helped someone! FWIW one thing I like about trmnl is they do have a solid bring-your-own-device setup if you happen to have another eink screen laying around, and a helpful friend on Mastodon shared his work on un-trmnl-ing his devices: skippy.net/freetrm

Really disappointed to see the TRMNL guy is an alt-right chud, thanks to some helpful posts from users in their subreddit.
I'm certain I can find better uses for my money. Bummer.
Also, if your cold email says something along the lines of "I sit on a team of"... believe it or not, also spam.
An surefire way for me to hit the spam button on your email is to refer to my work as "in the technology space".
True, that's a good point!
Looks like a really great library, but for an established codebase, I'm not losing sleep over 15kb and hundreds-of-microseconds in 2026.
What _would_ get me to consider changing has more to do with ergonomics and compatibility with other libraries my team uses - react query and drizzle tRPC.
It's a celebration in the Catholic tradition, consisting mostly of unpleasantness and a vague, fearful sense of dread
Brad this is... spectacular! ๐ค

Doing some spring cleaning. This feels so much longer ago than it actually was...
I think it's the world's stupidest way of saying "we will hire an army of people to DM people 40,000 times a month on your behalf"
Garbage LinkedIn spam solicitation
LinkedIn is the dead internet. I hate this.
LLMs are great, and AI tools feel like magic, but if you stop using the skills you've built over your career, your brain will happily rewire itself to hang onto something else instead.

Hey Theo, thanks for the kind reply! I was just listening to you on @syntax.fm thanks to a rec from @hellosean.bsky.social. We'll definitely check it out ๐
Thanks Matt! I'm giving 1pass's developer extension a test - so far it seems helpful for local dev and sharing envs with my team, but I'm not sure about integrations with GitHub CI and our app hosting provider. Will report back...
Dev pals: what's your tool of choice for .env key vaults to share on a team? I've seen a handful of options from dotenvx to 1password sharing to aws-hosted things, and I've never used any of 'em.
Matt's words are always worth your time

We're definitely skipping SOTU, right?
Literally anything else is a better use of your time.
No matter how good I get at DevOps, it's always a new nightmare when things start to break.
Neat.
Building software means falling in love with the process of building something and then _rebuilding_ it.
Once that realization hits, it becomes very meditative ๐ง

API Developers debate the benefits of REST vs JSON-RPC when working with LLMs. Also in this newsletter: the politics of building APIs, FastAPI's continued growth, a comparison of serverless cold start times, and more!

Console.app for MacOS
Go ahead, open it up and try to figure out how to narrow down logs to your favorite app.
For example: Did you know MacOSโs Console.app can show you Live Logs from an IOS device plugged in via USB? The only catch is because it is on the OS made by the best software designers in the world, it is an absolute inscrutable nightmare to use.
Spent nearly all of yesterday trying to debug an expo app that silently froze on its splash screen in production.
A very long, very frustrating day- and while I'm not confident I understand why things broke, I now have a much better grip on the process to investigate/debug expo apps while they run.
