Huge news: Jordan Acker, who infamously pushed state to prosecute UM student protestors, loses bid for re-election to UM Regents. The winner: Amir Makled, who provided pro bono legal support to those same UM students. Enormous victory for the Palestine/student solidarity movement.

12-foot skeleton with an anti-war shirt.

This is Catherine Zeta-Bones. She lives in my neighborhood and has a great sense of style.

Other skeletons envy her T-shirt collection.

Me, trying to explain sapphic flirting dynamics to a non-sapphic writer: "Now if she says something like 'you're the most beautiful woman I've ever seen, please marry me,' she's not interested, possibly straight. But if she says 'I like your hair,' she's down BAD."

France passed a law requiring solar panels on every parking lot with more than 80 spaces.

Equals 10 nuclear reactors
Reduces heat island, shades cars

The US -- 800 million parking spaces. Most of them are uncovered asphalt sitting in direct sunlight.

Why aren't we doing this?

It turns out that the DoorDash deliverer earlier at the White House was a Republican staged event. Sharon Simmons of Arkansas was used last year by the GOP to promote their “One Big Beautiful Bill.”

Revenging Angel D'Argo's new ship threatens to destroy Moya while Crichton, on the brink of death, gets animated. Ka D'Argo and John Crichton are in D'Argo's new ship, which D'Argo has roughly figured out how to pilo...

Tldr in John's comatose pop culture referencing mind there are Coyote and Roadrunner style interpretations of the plot done in traditional animation in one ep yeah

This pattern holds a crucial lesson for America’s current moment. As democratic norms erode and elections become increasingly tilted, anti-corruption movements offer what partisan politics cannot: the moral authority to unite society against a rigged system. When traditional opposition fails, these movements succeed because they transcend party lines, mobilizing citizens around a cause larger than any candidate: the fundamental fairness of the system itself.
Research shows that in polarized societies, the most effective opposition doesn’t fight on the traditional left-right battlefield where positions are entrenched. Instead, it creates an entirely new axis of conflict.1 Framing the stakes as clean versus corrupt shifts debate from rigid ideological divisions to a universally resonant moral question: are you on the side of the people or a corrupt elite?

Truth is, Orbán is just the latest in long list of authoritarians to be defeated by anti-corruption politics.

A Democratic landslide is possible if they can credibly take up the anti-corruption mantle. But that can’t happen if voters see them as corrupt and beholden to wealthy donors.

The same week the NYTimes was devoting its significant resources to producing this ridiculous piece about Lauren Sanchez Bezos's call for rich people to not worry and be happy, Ryan Hass, an independent journalist in Oregon, was investigating this horrifying story about a death in an Amazon plant.

Warning: this soft-focus press release disguised as a profile feature will make you want to a) barf and b) start pricing guillotines.

Maybe we don’t need next day delivery. Maybe ignoring or stepping over dead bodies to make Amazon warehouse deadlines is in fact, bad.

I don't know that I've ever met a CPTSD survivor who didn't struggle with chronic exhaustion. Dealing with trauma w/ inadequate support for years is its own trauma-- & also makes EVERY cognitive & emotional task on our plate 1,473,993 times more effortful than it should be.

even the replies to this are full of people that didn't know (no shade). money can't buy you everything but it can buy you a lot. this is how far the media has been captured by the hyper rich that don't want ANY of this shit talked about

It's the 7th month of the US bombing random ships in Latin American waters they claim are drug smugglers (reminder that two survivors who were rescued were repatriated, not charged), and the death toll is 150+, and it barely gets discussed.
