Got to see the every amazing @hacks4pancakes.com at Cybercon after drinks at B-Sides a few weeks ago, and still always a pleasure to be in the presence of a superbly competent individual who can communicate amazingly.

Shout out to the renewable energy aligned, cybersecurity peeps who also enjoy video games.

B-sides Canberra, into PAX, into Cybercon Melbourne, into All Energy, into Cisco Live is one hell of a calendar commitment......................................................................................

Having Jamie in my office meant I actually watched a few games at some point. I still only loosely understand what’s happening. Go esports!

Saw the Demon Slayer Infinite Castle movie.

Stunning animation. Frustrating for being part 1. Very satisfying for the part of the arc we did watch. Two years until the next sucks.

Interesting villain arc

Will make no sense unless you watch the anime and the other movie.

For the fans 8/10.

Polite query to movie taste setter (for me at least) @bobchipman.bsky.social for a mini review on “Primitive War”.

It’s in the local cinema now, and seems like the movie that may be something Bob would make a “This movie Exists” reference to in ten years, and trying to work out if I invest 2hrs.

I could be down to aid and abet this

I don’t like either choice, but I may be constructing a false dichotomy.

… looking for signals of pain or trouble.

I just don’t know how you maintain an antenna of empathy looking to be human to people, and not die from the torrent of acidic toxic crap that flows around you all the time.

I can either do less by closing in the horizon, or burn out trying to help more

So this the last day of 2 weeks f actual break and rest. Even down to disabling the phone so I couldn’t see anything work related.

It was amazing. Great mental break.

The only problem is the channels I keep open to be able to help people were also closed. I skim the torrent of social shit …

I didn’t write a review of Kpop Demon Hunters when I watched. So one in arrears.

I enjoyed it. It was fun. 6.5/10.

I will never forgive them for screwing up the ending so horribly. Literally betraying and discarding their own themes and plot setup.

Dissolving Demon Boyfriend was a film crime.

The old need to be woken up from "acceptance", the young need to listen to the old on pragmatically making things better.

Sadly, and for the most part, neither of these things will happen.

The passion and fire of youth leads them to fight for what is right. And this is good.

The cynical/experience of age leads us to be more pragmatic and be willing to accept smaller wins cause it is "some" progress. This is hard to be seen as 'good' by the young.

People also very reductively make every thing back/white bad/good cause our human brains like simple villain/hero narratives.

So it’s either be on my team or you are also villainous.

Just saw it with son (still in cinema waiting for post credits scene), based on your interview I watched yesterday.

You haven’t led me wrong yet Bob.

Your understanding of comic books through TV to movies has you as the perfect expert for what to watch for me.

Thanks for the content you do.

Saw the new Superman. Fun as hell. Absolutely what a comic book movie should be.

Funny, comical, poignant, emotive, inspirational.

Solid story based on believable character motivations.

James Gunn good at the movie thing… who da thunk it.

9/10

28 Years later was good, emotional, moving, impactful.

The penultimate scenes were not what I expected, but pretty amazing.

The last 5 minutes was

W
T
F

8/10 solid recommend if you are into zombie or enjoyed the first two.

1. Industry conferences are cool. But people always matter more than data.

2. Data is useful. But know the data from others can come in skewed.

3. Explore the afterparties & adjacent events to a conference, solid value there.

4. Do NOT try to match a Latino in California, Tequila shot for shot.

The Electric State (on Netflix)

That was a fun movie exploring interesting ideas. Fun adventure, emotional impact, great actors, banging 90’s soundtrack.

Actual best movie in a long time. Russo Brothers still masters of the craft. 9.5/10

(Wonderwall instrumental was 👌)

Also Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross did the music.

Has Sigourney Weaver and Anya Taylor-Joy.

If you have AppleTV go have a look at “The Gorge”.

Solid adventure flick, with sci-fi/eldritch elements, great actors, neat ending.

A lot of fun. 8/10 movie.

Not sure what happens with AppleTV and movies. There’s good shit on there but does it have enough audience?

Lovely night ramble through Stockholm.

No idea where we went. Some haunted looking forest, weird temple, a military school??

I think we surprised some people with a random Aussie-ness in unexpected locations.
