Not that I really care for Xbox as a brand or their products, but I do think academia should study Xbox as a division, so that we can learn more about the nature of bad decision-making that is a persistent aspect of their corporate culture

In conclusion, I'm not going to attend a climate change rally that Alan Dershowitz is a part of, but that doesn't mean I'm not concerned about climate change. It means my immediate reaction to siding with them is "ew", and my reaction to them going through hardship is "lol get fucked". s/Dersh/FAKKU

The obvious move would be to hold digital payment processors accountable as gatekeepers in something like the digital markets act, but certain lobbyists are more interested in getting other things in there, concerning their hard-earned intellectual properties. Tunnel vision affects all sides here.

I do understand that, and I think there are better people than FAKKU to argue that point. Every mildly adult thing, including Steam, has been dealing with this. There's nothing really novel about what you're facing and it will continue to work this way as long as power structures are this way.

So you're saying sites that contain content within your market, but you do not hold the license to either, are an illegitimate use? This goes at the heart of what I'm trying to communicate here, which is that FAKKU just generally despises anyone who's not giving specifically them money.

This is splitting hairs. DHT isn't exactly 90% Linux ISOs, and they include URLs for bootstrapping DHT.

I'm trying to tell you that people will be more sympathetic to your plight if your operation doesn't also abuse its relative position of power when it suits them.

Because he does not want people to engage with content that he does not hold a license to, because that makes his service less appealing.

It's a cold and calculated business move, and you know what your assertions would mean for torrent clients.

gallery-dl is not exclusively for downloading from pirate sites. I use it for bsky and pixiv all the time. You also know that none of FAKKU's content is on exhentai - one of the supported sites included in the takedown notice. The non-retraction confirms that Jacob specifically wanted this notice.

How was the code FAKKU sent a DMCA takedown for "pirated"? It wasn't theirs.

SpaceX IPO Scandal
SpaceX IPO Scandal YouTube video by Patrick Boyle

At least xAI (through SpaceX) appears to be gaming the system by rewriting S&P500 index rules to weigh the tiny float they actually put on the public market as much bigger than it is, so that retirement funds that just buy the index bail out insiders.

Remember when companies were justifying their use of Electron with "RAM is cheap" and "it increases developer productivity"? Now RAM is no longer cheap and supposedly developers are more productive than ever. Weird how they still use Electron.

Brainwash An Executive Today! — Ludicity

I liked this post about the phenomenon of SaaS companies buttering up executives: ludic.mataroa.blog/blog/brainwa...

Imho there's 2 SaaS models: one where you provide useful software as a service to small/medium businesses, which isn't going great because they're going extinct but is otherwise solid, and then there's enterprise SaaS which is also not going great and was always built on lies, lawyers, and kickbacks

their full-colour 13" displays for DIYing something are already approaching $300, and that's actually a much better price than like 2 years ago when I last looked www.waveshare.com/product/disp...
