I am going to try and paint this stunning scene, however, I live in the UK (although did live for many years in California). Very much hope that you get the council support that you are looking for.

A reminder that the US killed 80 people in Venezuela, and it would be nice if the US media cared enough to think that the life of a grandmother in Caracas whose building is destroyed by a US bomb matters as much as the life of a person in the US.
Is marketing the lives of vulnerable people the mission of Souls Harbour?

In this essay, @mmughees.bsky.social reflects on her first year of working with the Examiner. It's been a joy watching her cover a range of stories. She writes about her fear but I never sensed that fear and knew from the first interview she has great courage.

If you like your news covered real reporters, please subscribe to @halifaxexaminer.ca.
I’m working on a story about an event in #Halifax today. It’s becoming more frequent that I’m the only reporter at some events such at the recent town halls with Mayor Andy Fillmore. I really enjoy covering these stories. They’re produced by a real reporter (me) and not AI!

It would be nice indeed.

"Policymakers are only speeding up the climate catastrophe all around the world due to their negligence and corporate ties," writes @mmughees.bsky.social in this disheartening but important (and robust) commentary.

The World Doesn't Hate Jews, The World Hates Israel
The world hates Israel because Israel is an evil state whose evil actions are tormenting millions of people, and are having a direct effect on our own lives to a greater and greater extent as well.

Still waiting for the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs and Halifax Mayor Andy Fillmore to say something, *anything*, about their earlier jump to blame Palestinians for this.
"I grew up in Gaza, and for as long as I can remember, my life was marked by war. In 2006, I lost my father when Israeli forces killed him on his farmland."

I contacted #Halifax communications and the city WILL NOT be giving the $50,000 to the Davis Cup.
“the event no longer delivers the tourism, economic and other benefits that would have been expected had it proceeded as originally planned.”
My name was added to this letter without my consent. It is perhaps worth noting that it lists my old professional affiliation rather than my current one.
It may also be worth noting that I checked the letter when Nathan posted it and did not see my name, so it may have been added since last night.
Now this is getting amusing
In addition to adding his name without his consent, the letter incorrectly listed his name as “Nathan Kalman.”
"So the fact that it was wrong, I think, is a pretty good signal that I did not put it down there," Nathan Kalman-Lamb said.

Israel murdered five al-Jazeera journalists, including Anas Al-Sharif.
They did so because they're now liquidating Gaza City, and want to silence the remaining witnesses.
To Western journalists silent about the slaughter of your colleagues:
Their blood is on your hands, too.
