I’ve had the same editor since 1967. Many times he has said to me over the years or asked me, Why would you use a semicolon instead of a colon? And many times over the years I have said to him things like: I will never speak to you again. Forever. Goodbye. That is it. Thank you very much. And I leave. Then I read the piece and I think of his suggestions. I send him a telegram that says, OK, so you’re right. So what? Don’t ever mention this to me again. If you do, I will never speak to you again

I think it would be because they themselves are much more likely to be in the motorist group so they isolate bad experiences with other drivers into a "bad drivers" subgroup that doesn't impact their perception of the whole.

I started carrying a fannypack and calling it a "crossbody bag." It is only a minor improvement on the ultra skinny leg jeans experiment that made me look like Gru.

Food photographers use Motor Oil to stand in for syrup. Thus, by covering all of your foods in maple syrup you can achieve the mirror result without falling victim to rising oil prices.

There is an absolute steak and kidney pie of a face hiding under that guard's helmet and I feel personally robbed of seeing it in its full glory.

I could watch WCW but not WWE. They were incredibly lenient about most things but they drew the line there.

What is the "actual way" this use of language is preventing and what makes it more concrete than a decade-plus prison sentence and lifetime monitoring?

My three-year-old is doing this with "butthead."

He recently woke me up by climbing into my bed, laying his face on top of my face, and whispering "Sun's up, butthead."

Then I made him breakfast.

so this question has come up in conversation recently: obviously, bluesky has features that allow you to disable interactions like replies and quote posts. but is doing so contrary to the spirit of social media? is it antisocial behavior? maybe even unethical? interested to hear everyone's thoughts
