The reader knows best (even if the writer knows better) by Becky C. Brynolf Did you hear about that influencer who found a dead body and filmed it? Back in 2017, a YouTuber named Logan Paul uploaded a video of a man ...

Wrote something on how Logan Paul inspired my debut novel, and how my writer's group feedback took it in the best direction.

BECKY C. BRYNOLF's debut novel brings the detective thriller genre bang up to date Becky C. Brynolf's debut isn’t a standard detective thriller, yet its setting provides unexpected turns before the truth is revealed.

This is a nice full circle moment. I used to do music and theatre reviews for Buzz Mag back in the day. #IFoundABody

A copy of I Found A Body by Becky C. Brynolf. It shows a pink sparkly cover with broken Barbie doll parts (a leg and a snapped off arm) lying in a pool of red blood. The tagline reads: “An influencer, a dead body and a live stream…” The title is lime green and there is a quote that reads “A page turner that has you hooked from the start” by Oenone Forbat.

My husband walks by a loch with two dogs while the sun sets. Me singing karaoke wearing a shot glass necklace. An old quality video of me as a little girl with a near bob haircut. Some shots of me working at my desk, typing away. The book held in front of me as I walk along a country path.] /End

Me strutting in front of the TV with my baby strapped to my chest. My dog sitting to attention. Another shot of him looking suspiciously over his shoulder. My handsome husband playing with the dog. Then him lying on the floor while our baby touches his beard. 2/3

I've not got total faith the alt text worked on this video so I'm pasting here: [Video: me dancing in a snowy field. Me at my desk holding my novel. My painted nails dancing over the novel as it lies on my desk. 1/3

#IFoundABody is published one week today, so I thought I'd introduce myself properly.

The why is because blind and partially sighted people ask that alt text only be used for descriptions of the image. It's a reasonable adjustment to make life easier, and if people bend the guidance to suit non disabled needs, it excludes disabled people. I'm not trying to be difficult!

Image descriptions make images accessible for blind and partially sighted people. It's also known as alt text.

They're simply a written description of an image. Image descriptions aren't for adding photo credits, inside jokes, extending copy or for boosting Search Engine Optimisation.

Image descriptions should be added to all images, memes and GIFs and should include all copy included in the image."

Here where it says "Image descriptions aren't for adding photo credits, inside jokes, extending copy or for boosting Search Engine Optimisation." I'm afraid it doesn't matter if there's a caveat in the post. Adding extra copy doesn't help blind and partially sighted people know what the picture is.

How to make your social media accessible If you're affected by sight loss, we're here for you

That's ok! This is a dead handy guide that breaks it down www.rnib.org.uk/living-with-...

That's still really confusing for blind and partially sighted blue sky users. The alt text is there so people know what's in the image. Popping anything else in denies blind and partially sighted people their right to the same information sighted people have.
