Yup. Chapters 4 & 5 of our book are mostly about that, too, calling it Techno-Taylorism for a reason!

one thing i think is that while the AI job apocalypse isn't going to happen, deskilling of white collar labour definitely is

The Jim Caviezel episodes of The Dollop podcast is some of the wildest shit I’ve ever heard
No response to the email I sent about this yesterday. Having dealt with this for the third time in a few months, I think it’s remarkable how large media orgs involved in the 24/7 production of the newest news are slow to respond to *some people.* Maybe if I were an anonymous White House source…
altered tweet Mike Primavera @primawesome My dean told me dumbasses keep embarrassing his department so I asked how many dumbasses he has and he said he just hires for viewpoint diversity and gets dumbasses afterwards so I said it sounds like he's just doing quotas for dumbasses and then his daughter started crying.
okay it was 8am on the west coast so it was lemon spindrift in my glass but i tried to bring the party spirit even so

Opening text of a thread by Palantir from X Because we get asked a lot. The Technological Republic, in brief. 1. Silicon Valley owes a moral debt to the country that made its rise possible. The engineering elite of Silicon Valley has an affirmative obligation to participate in the defense of the nation. 2. We must rebel against the tyranny of the apps. Is the iPhone our greatest creative if not crowning achievement as a civilization? The object has changed our lives, but it may also now be limiting and constraining our sense of the possible. 3. Free email is not enough. The decadence of a culture or civilization, and indeed its ruling class, will be forgiven only if that culture is capable of delivering economic growth and security for the public. 4. The limits of soft power, of soaring rhetoric alone, have been exposed. The ability of free and democratic societies to prevail requires something more than moral appeal. It requires hard power, and hard power in this century will be built on software.
Palantir put out a 22-point summary of their CEO's book The Technological Republic. It's pitched as a defence of the West, but if you read it through the VDA framework, verification, deliberation, accountability, what it's actually doing looks rather different.

This has gotta be disqualifying to some degree lol can’t wait for new senate and house leaders; certainly neither he nor Jeffries should lead a majority of Democrats anywhere except to the room where the next set of leaders are waiting lol
So this is what prompted Melania to make that bizarre speech.
What’s incredible is that Ungaro’s tweets didn’t mention Epstein or claim Melania met Trump through Epstein, just that she had damaging info. So why did Melania leap to that the next day?

Pete Hegseth's bloodlust, sadism, and barely disguised enthusiasm about precision military killing are deeply entangled in his Christian Reconstructionism. Really enjoyed this chat on the @liberalcurrents.com Half the Answer pod about my piece on all this:

What’s the deal with crazy Pete Hegseth? What’s his background? Why does he yell about god & rave about violence & blood? Was weekend Fox & Friends THAT convincing? @caitlinmoriah.bsky.social & I asked friend of the pod @gregsargent.bsky.social all of this and more on @halftheanswer.bsky.social
Half the Answer #77: A bloodthirsty, homicidal maniac is in charge of our nation's military, and he deeply believes that extreme violence is awesome and God likes it a lot. Trent and Caitlin ask Greg Sargent what he learned from experts about Pete Hegseth's attitude toward violence.
Correct; let them sink
