Doyle doesn't know the difference between deduction, abduction, induction either. I didn't find Holmes "deeply unpleasant" like that comment. He can be annoying as hell, but he's so frequently charming to Watson and to some clients, that it offsets his flaws.

There's no consensus on the pronunciation, and I thought it was a French name, but I don't know. According to wikipedia, Doyle himself favored "le strayed" but people have been going back on forth on pronunciation for decades. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inspect...
What the hell?! Texas Democrats are fighting the GOP as best as we can, and you want her to abandon us? Fuck that! Tons of Texas Democrats can't just "move to another state".
I made no comment on the candidates. I just said she lost the election. She conceded gracefully. Stop spreading divisive smears and move past the primary. She's working her ass off with what time she has left in her House term.
Sherlock Holmes often went against the law and let criminals go free. Scotland Yard inspectors were usually incompetent, though occasionally there was a bright one. Doyle did valorize the Pinkertons as heros in "Valley of Fear" though, and also spoke favorably of a Pinkerton in "The Red Circle."
No it was for U.S. Senate. Bunch of out of state, backseat drivers kept arguing about our primary election. Now she's currently in the U.S. House, but will lose the job when the term runs out. TX GOP gerrymandered the district so she couldn't keep her seat. That's why she threw in for Senate.
She did run for Senate. She lost the Democratic primary to Talarico.
Oh I forgot about that YouTube sketch! Yes I’d like a whole movie or TV show of them canoodling, but with more mutual eagerness.
That’s it!
We’ve been waiting for the third RDJ/Law movie forever. I think Guy Ritchie doing the Young Sherlock TV show is all we’re going to get. But it’s still playing with subtext and queerbaiting
But the TV series doesn’t follow the Andrew Lane books at all.
The However Improbable podcast did an interview with Rohase Piercy about her book. Not sure how to link it here
Yeah but when are Hollywood going to make subtext become text? Where’s the gay kissing and such? I’m still waiting
Reminds me of when Holmes spotted bruises on Helen Stoner’s wrist in Speckled Band
And Holmes never finished his book on the Whole Art of Detection. Instead he wrote his book about bees 🐝 in his retirement.
But I did like what they did with characters like Kitty Winter. Just couldn’t take yet another boring murder. Book Holmes loves an interesting case even when there’s no crime happening. I wanted to have private clients, not police consultations every time.
@andrewhickey.500songs.com I was trying to reply to your posts on Elementary but it wasn’t working. I agree that the show had way too many murders. I thought, where’s the jewel robberies, bank robberies, identity scams, kidnappings? I was always disappointed when an episode ended up being a murder.
Early voting starts tomorrow I think
I loved having Watson be “as brown as a nut” like in Study in Scarlet.
Oh you mean an audiobook reading? Yeah he’s been doing the short stories so far, so this will be Bonneville doing a novel at last (Hound of the Baskervilles). No need to use the image of Robert Downey Jr though
Watson has an eye for men beyond Sherlock Holmes! And also Holmes, his most special favorite ❤️
Oh I guess it said honorary fellow, not degree
Cool, an honorary degree. I think Holmes left university without a degree or at least he never mentioned having one.
I should say that Granada did it well too but I disliked Brett’s disguises in that episode. If you search YouTube for the Tady Brothers Productions, they have a version of SCAN that makes the King more of a Baron Gruner type villain
Another article saying it will be available for rent in June after premiering on PBS stations trevordecker.com/2026/04/14/w...
Coming May 27!
PBS’s Wishbone did Irene Adler well.
To clarify, “His Last Bow” is not the final published story, but it is set on the latest date. All other Casebook stories published after His Last Bow were set at various years before 1914.
In a way, Doyle cursed himself with people believing in Holmes and Watson, and adoring them far more than their creator.
