Another great @scalingdevtools.bsky.social podcast with the founder of Railway, Jake Cooper
Quite wide ranging. Topics covered include:
- data centers
- org structure for 25 folks (it's flaaaat)
- how to build leverage in customer support
Here's the video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=jF4J...

great podcast with the folks behind @ghost.org from @scalingdevtools.bsky.social .
Love the single tenant solution discussion, but sympathize with the operational concerns of running hundreds or thousands of isolated application instances.

- made a Greptile energy drink for developers. That's how I heard about Greptile.
- made and hand delivered boxes of cookies with Steve Ballmer's voice playing.
- got a ton of free press for saying it's normal and good to work 84 hour weeks.
This is episode is a reminder to think differently
Life is easier if you copy what everyone else is doing.
But no one will care.
@dakshgup.bsky.social from @greptile.bsky.social is still only 22 but absolutely does not copy what anyone else is doing:
Hahah nice
Thanks George.
Interesting problem. It sounds like there isn't a universal characteristic you can use ๐ค
What kind of videos are they? If its like a podcast, could you instead identify when the actual speech happens/ends using a transcript and ai? And trim around that instead
I don't know if youtube helps
I don't know if transcriptions help
I suspect they do, but I have no way to prove it (maybe my data is too small)
Only things I know for sure work for us
- "good" episodes
- front page on hacker news (only happened once)
- guests who share the episode. Especially if they're famous and put effort into sharing it
- Consistency
Nothing else has definitely proven to work for us
Serious: are you really a DevTool founder if you're not subscribed to our newsletter?
Added a bunch of accounts to my dev tools starter pack go.bsky.app/Eewc866
