The check in stuff I also feel like it's a surrogate for an actual hobby or some other form of selfimprovement. I mean, videogames in general, but at a bigger factor. Getting into an art habit slaughtered my drive to play Genshin etc.

I feel like I'm inoculated on that stuff. Played a few, years ago. It's not just the money itself it's all the "check in" daily/weekly crap that tries to compel you into their loop. It's just as well most of their tutorial phases are incredibly boring in case I do slip up and try one.
