Plenty to see near to home today, Barred Wblr at Winterton in same bush as Garden Wblr, Blackcap, Lesser & Common Whitethroats. First juv Garganey of the autumn at Strumpshaw, 3 Wood Sand at Buckenham and at least 8 Cattle Egret at Limpenhoe #birds

Despite the dire forecast a pleasant days birding. 1st stop Walberswick for our 1st Zitter for 25 years, with a fine Little Gull too. Back on the patch 15 Ruff, 2 Dunlin, 4 Blackwit, 6 Snipe, GWE & Barn Owl. #birds

No White-rumped Sand tonight, had to leave before the Pec Sand came in, but a magical evening at Snettisham. Reams of Blackwit, Knot, Dunlin, Sanderling etc + 4 Curlew Sand & 2 Little Stint. Walked back with an amazing sunset, swarms of wader wheeling against the sky & a chorus of Turtle Doves

Eventually caught up with Norfolks Night Heron at Stiffkey today, resting with 20+ Spoonbills, also 3 Green Sands. Onto Tichwell where the Curlew Sand eventually woke up, plus a good variety of other waders + a few more Spoonbills. More Spoonbills and Green Sands at Buckenham at dusk #Birds

Quiet on the bird front, but as always plenty to see. Purple Emperor, Silver-washed Fritillary, White Admiral best flutterbyes, a bonus Adder at Holt. Cattle Egret at Cley, Bullfinch near Guist, plenty of Blackwit at Cley & Buckenham etc

Pleasant afternoon at Frampton, Pratincole always distant but very active. 1 yellow flagged Spotshank amongst a group of 8. Shabby Red-crested Pochard, but it could fly. Several nice Ruff, Dunlin & LRPs.

Also GWE, Whooper Swan, Tree Sparrows etc then onto the Brecks via the odd Corn Bunting. No Xbills but interesting to watch this Whitethroat and Cuckoo. Presumably the Whitethroat was trying to distract the Cuckoo away from it's nest. Continued for about 10 minutes b4 the Cuckoo flew off.

A varied day, first 100s of Silver-studded Blues at Buxton Heath, then missed the Buckenham Smew & Swallowtail at Strumpshaw. A quick trip to Lakenheath for the Caspian Tern, then back to Strumpshaw for the relocated Smew with Bitterns & Hobbies. #birds

Had a lovely hour with the Cley Marsh Warbler yesterday, gave us a bit of a challenge tho. All the time Spoonbills, Great White, Little and Cattle Egrets passed overhead.

Waited a day and a half for the fog to lift and the sun 🌞 to shine, but an hour b4 our ferry home it did and boom, 3x Glanville Fritillary manically appeared, thanks to all butterflies both local and visitors for all your help.

Large White, Small Copper, Brown Argus, Green Hairstreak,Adonis Blue, Common Blue, Small Blue, Painted Lady, Small Tortoiseshell, Glanville Fritillary, Meadow Brown, Small Heath, Grizzled Skipper, Dingy Skipper, Large Skipper in a mist effected hunt on the IOW this weekend.

Good to catch up with the Booted Eagle today, plenty of happy faces in Norfolk 😁. Nearby my first Birds-nest Orchids for a few years. Later plenty of Little Terns at Winterton.
