[Correction]
I for one don't pretend that those who have engineered this national kneecapping of science, undertaking a campaign of destruction that has harmed or completely gutted agencies vital to this nation's health and survival -- will be moved by appeals to reason. Quite the opposite.

And to them I say this: We're smarter than you. We're better human beings than you. We know what it means to serve. And we serve the people of this country -- not your criminal regime. We uphold an oath to the Constitution, not an amoral, fascist traitor.

Your days are numbered. We can wait.

These are people who openly
mock public service, while invoking God and country and draped in its flag. People who may well read with sadistic glee the words of those with intelligence and character of which they are fundamentally incapable, appealing to principles utterly foreign to them.

We've seen what has happened to the FDA, to the EPA, to NOAA, to the CDC and the NIH. Expertise discarded. Sub-literate, deluded grifters given leadership roles they neither deserve nor honor.Partnerships sabotaged in the name of xenophobic ignorance and cowardice touted as "America First."

The administration has received letter upon letter from many of these scientists, from farmers, from the farmers the administration uses as rhetorical props, urgently reiterating the enormous cost of sabotaging far more than even the diverse work of s 6,000 -acre center of research and education.

Because apart from being a wooded refuge, it is miles
of experimental farmland that belongs to every tax-paying citizen. And it serves, not only the United Ststes, but countries spanning the globe, whose scientists collaborate with ours; whose crops serve as the medium for world-feeding research.

I was glad to share a couple hours of lighthearted collegial fun with others who, like me, were
more than needful of the area director's simple reminder. And yet, could not avoid waves of anger and disgust at those who were determined to lay waste of this vast, thriving, beautiful place.

The event was a "Spring Fling." Our area director had emailed all of us a few hours before its start. "You may bit feel like celebrating," it had begun. He'd reminded us that amidst the ever-present unease that this current reality
engendered, we had each other.

On the screen was a montage of pictures from the many events that had taken place in that large room, which still smelled of nearly centuries-old lumber. It reminded me of retreat centers I'd visited one the past -- tranquil, and full of life and community.

Within this rustic, almost stately building, live music played, and conversations buzzed across the tables set up in the main room. Potlucked assortments of snacks and desserts lined two more tables in the back. There was a large projector screen set up near them.

My destination: The Log Lodge, an actual log and timber-frame structure built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's. It's surrounded by trees, which are soon to be a thick canopy of green. A mile away, accessible by a wooded hike, is the Patuxent Wildlife Refuge.

Today I saw an enormous region of the land that comprises BARC. I drove through miles of cultivated farmland, feeling as if I were hundreds, rather than a few, miles from the building on Route 1 where I work.

How much longer are those who actually uphold their oaths going to permit these criminals, traitors of the lowest and most venal order, to destroy the civil service?

The Administration continues
to forge ahead with their plan to dismantle -- not "reorganize,"
but dismantle and destroy vitally-needed research. They are committed doing to the USDA what they have done to the CDC, to NOAA, to the NIH, to every agency created to protect and serve this
country.

The "president" is a rapist and a traitor. You are a hero. He doesn't deserve a second of recognition
from anyone who actually served their country.

And what will Congress
do to remove this idiotic little clown from the job for which he's clearly comically unqualified?

DOGE was never "needed"
other than to facilitate the single worst theft of U.S. taxpayer PII in this country's history. It was never, for one instant, about "efficiency". It was itself an instrument of waste and fraud and abuse that caused damage from which this country may never recover.

The last Secretary of Agriculture would have given us two to four hours of admin leave to spend time with our families. Cheerleader lawyer just lectured us about how the pilgrims and Indians were nice to each other with “gratitude towards a loving God.” Thanks Brooke for the boomer history lesson.

The relentless assault on science, on expertise, on knowledge. The desecration of the White House and all it represents. The tormenting of people struggling to keep themselves sheltered, fed, and cared for. The teams of masked, armed cowards terrorizing those they can --
for now -- easily overpower.

Great to meet with Charles County leadership to hear more on their priorities on how they plan to continue moving the county forward.

I was proud to partner with local leaders and direct federal funding for SMRT and their CSM aviation program.

Most Americans oppose East Wing demolition for Trump ballroom, poll finds Fifty-six percent say they oppose President Donald Trump’s decision to tear down part of the White House to build a 90,000-square-foot ballroom building.

Who would've thought building a $300 million gold-plated ballroom as kids go hungry and health care costs soar would be unpopular?
