I don't have a problem with smut or how you write it or what kinks you like. But I do have a problem with turning them into some flat archetype that has no relation to the original character and you use that character bc you know they have a big audience and you can get more kudos that way

Fanfiction has always been an opportunity to improve my writing. To play w/ the style and voice of a distinct character. Lately, much of fic feels like: trope + smut + everyone acting VERY oc. I think a rise of conservative values in media has a lot to do w this but that's a different thread.
