Survival is an act of resistance I say. I have a good support system and community here, we are taking care of each other up here. Really, the saddest part is watching the diaspora, so many amazing trans people leaving for safer pastures, and losing these people is truly a loss for Oklahoma.

That makes sense why they don't have them then. We had four tornado warnings here in OKC last spring. That's a lot for one year, but they are common enough many people (including I) have a tornado bunker in the garage with a steel top that locks shut.

I lived in Austin for about three weeks before I finally asked someone, "I still haven't heard the tornado siren tests, when do they do those here?" and they was like "we don't have tornado sirens in Austin!" which honestly floored me. It seems weird not to have them.

I always have trouble remembering, but something amazing happened yesterday: as I was preparing my dose, the weekly tornado siren test happened, as it happens every Saturday at noon, and now I have an alarm built into my environment that I don't have to set!
