So much this. The 1916-1990 large continental army is a historical aberration. By trying to do everything, we're not generating enough force anywhere.

I wonder what happened to false positives, it doesn't mention it in the article.

I wish that Spotify or similar would let people make radio shows, where they play music and talk in between. Since you've paid to access the music, it would be nice to have people share and curate, but with rambling humanity in the chat, not just playlists. This is the narrowcasting of my dreams.

National purpose on AI. Lovelace Institutes, why I like the idea, and how I think they could work.

I went to a dinner with the AI Minister and I read a paper on Lovelace Institue --- a proposal from Tony Blair's Institute on how we could fund breakthrough science better. And I wrote that all up into one incoherent mess for you to enjoy. tomforth.co.uk/nationalpurp...

I went to Leeds Carnival yesterday and was struck by the thought that there were many times more people at that event than at all of these protests combined. A huge, happy crowd celebrating our diversity, shame that's not on the front pages.

I once asked for mustard in a French restaurant and he said "No. It will ruin your dinner and walked off". TBF he was right.

At primary school I did a reading test. Afterwards the teacher asked me what some of the words meant, I said I didn't know and the teacher accused me of cheating. She asked me how I could read a word if I didn't know its meaning. Maybe this is why?

Wrote a paper. Read the paper. Seems okay. You can read it too. The pub is now much fuller than my reading on X. niesr.ac.uk/publications...

I made salt cod ravioli one Xmas. So tasty, defo worth the effort. Did have a moment though when I couldn't workout why the dough wasn't rolling properly. Turned out I'd grabbed my mum's mince pie pastry from the fridge.

The culture series by Iain M Banks is great. The first one isn't the best, maybe start with Player of Games.
