A discussion between myself and McKenzie Wark on raving, hacking, and public luxury. Moderated by Feda Baeza. Pretty sure I gained aura points by just being in the virtual room tbh. www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SRC...

Had a joyous (and surprisingly moving) time at this. Rare to be offered this kind of opportunity to look back and celebrate. So, so lucky to have had @reproutopia.bsky.social there to reflect with me, so sharp and so insightful and so interesting and so effortlessly charismatic!

Oh, and the political economy of pronatalism, via Silicon Valley investment in the reproductive bioeconomy.

I think it will be recorded!

It's about bronatalism, post-natural sex, reproductive futurism, fathering vs. mothering (in a more-than-gendered sense), transhumanist transphobia and the portfolio approach to baby-making.

Thank you so much for saying that! I'm very fond of that chapter; it's quite different from the rest of the book in some ways, but I think it gets to the crux of why a post-work perspective is so important.

I often think about Simondon’s point that the notion of ‘jobs’ in the sense of social roles distorts our understanding of ‘work’ in the sense of what is actually done in industry. I think it’s probably going to be useful for thinking about the social effects of the coming wave of AI deployment.
