opinions needed: I do really like this book but I’ve been slogging through it for almost a month and I’m considering a soft DNF with the intention of coming back to it later. but what if I never pick it back up? 😩 every time I start reading I can only make it through a few pages

it’s also just frustrating that EVERYTHING is such poor quality these days and everyone selling something basically feels like they’re scamming you. food, tools, services, products, etc. everything is made cutting corners with the cheapest toxic materials available. i’m so tired

now I’m out $500, the seller is of course third party based in china and is refusing to accept a return. and so the guilt and sadness of making a bad financial decision is weighing on me this morning.

it was made of this thin metal that you’d bolt together to create a pillar, so the four legs it stood on weren’t even straight and the whole thing was tipping to one side. we felt so worried that it would topple over and damage something (or hurt someone) we ended up taking it apart.

here’s my pre-alarm anxiety for the day: we had a cloth-top gazebo that was destroyed from wind, so I ordered a “hard-top” gazebo online from walmart. spent $500 and took about 10 hours to assemble. only to realize once it was up that the structure was NOT safe or stable

(not bsky, but specifically gross instagram comments and scammy marketplace sellers)

every day i’m reminded of how many genuinely awful people there are out in the world 🫠

E-books are literally the same price as physical!!! make it make sense 😩

I wish that if you already owned the physical version of a book there was some way to have access to read it on an e-reader without having to buy the digital version too 😩
