You can shoot for the stars and do whatever obviously (its up to you). But when it comes to production, especially once you bring money and other people into it, it's best to be honest and realistic about what you can do. Dont try to roleplay as an industry studio.
My unasked advise for people looking to get into indie animation, is to figure out what you can and can't do, then base your production off of that.
You just gotta work within your means and aim for what you can actually do!
Just a little update, I finished the animation for ep 4 a few days ago! (mostly). I know things have been quiet for Quartz Quest lately, but we've got some big stuff planned for this summer !!

You ever look at Japanese production storyboards and wonder "what the fuck are we (in the USA) even doing" because all's I can say is damn. The level of detail is quick thumbnails at best and that's all you need. Fuck the USA production expectations for storyboards. Stop making us make comic books.

Not all the time, but in general you should enjoy making your stuff. You’d be surprised how many people want to make things but hate every single aspect that comes with making things.
One of my strongest opinions about “ indie animation “ and making things in general is that you should enjoy doing it to some extent.
I think when you get into indie-animation, you should be ready to pay people or barter then, not later. Volunteer labor shouldnt have deadlines. YOU SHOULD HAVE A JOB or do alot of shit yourself.
The promise of merch stores, "royalties" and multiple projects? Good for clout. Bad for business.
Cool bug facts! Whenever you see “indie animation studios” announce multiple shows and series being made without any prior establishment, budget, or income to put into it (and i mean big income) odds are they wont see the light of day and is a scam for free labor and piggybacking off others work!
